Only one I have seen was a church waiving the 300 ft buffer against alcohol sales for a convenience store that built close by.

Well, my story is the exact opposite - When I lived in Copperas Cove, TX (I was stationed at Ft Hood) there was a group of us who wanted
to start a GARBC church. I found a small cafe in a shopping center as a temporary location. Well, the owner was a deacon at the local SBC
church. He loved the ideal as if we were meeting there (which we did) no business could serve alcohol within 1,000 feet!
