Revelation 12 - a Verse by Verse, and even phrase by phrase study

For instance, God states in Ecclesiastes 1:9, 3:15 and elsewhere (Matthew 24:37-38; Luke 17:26-30), that history repeats. History, in scripture is used to demonstrate, by type, or by repetition, that which is coming (future), notice:

Ecc 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

As the days of Noe were .. so also ... be ...

Revelation, as shown, is given in the same way.

As Babylon of old in the natural, so then the Babylon of the new in the spiritual, see 1 Corinthians 15:44-46, first the natural, followed by the spiritual. Just as in Genesis, first the physical lamb in type, later the spiritual Lamb (Jesus, Behold the Lamb of God ...) in reality.

In fact, the entire history of Jesus is the reality of those things of the past, such as a child under death decree (as Moses), going into Egypt, coming out of Egypt, going through the waters of Baptism (like waters of the Rea Sea, 1 Cor. 10), Holy Ghost, teaching about God's Law expanded in Matthew 5 (as Moses likewise did).

Revelation is a revealing of Jesus Christ, and all things concerning Him, Revelation 1:1. This would include the past, being about His birth, even life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension, Rev. 12:2,5. There are a lot of things that were future from John's day in Revelation, but not all. Thus my previous demonstration by the texts (past, present, future), hast seen, which are, and things which shall be hereafter, also was, is and is to come, etc. In fact, Revelation 1:1-20, though 'present' to John at the time, are now as the past unto us, and yet since history repeats, see how that which was past in certain areas, can also detail the future.

That prophecy is sometimes in regards the future, that does not mean that the past or even present (at the time) is not also present. In Daniel, Babylon is mentioned in the prophecies, and it was then present with Daniel (Thou art this head of Gold (present tense)), but also included future events yet to come upon it.

In Isaiah 46:9-10, we see God saying:

Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Notice, the entire connection of history, from Alpha to Omega, Beginning unto Ending, from First to the Last, from Author to Finisher, from the 7th day of Creation unto the (2nd) Advent.

Using Daniel 11 as a template, it can be demonstrated that History has repeated at least 3 times, using the same verses - Link

Jesus, in a special prophecy, even used the past events (history) of Jonah to speak about the future, but those events were linked to the historical account that already took place (Matthew 12:40).
