Is it Wrong to Pray for and Desire Real Prophecy

It's a good point, and I haven't quite thought that through. I believe during the Acts period some were given a word of knowledge from God, specific to their church or to their small environment, which didn't make it into the Canon, but was definitely revelation. I believe something similar might happen during the Tribulation with the 144 thousand witnesses sent from God. I don't think that's happening today, though, or will happen during the rest of the Church age.

I'll have to give this more thought, however.
I am just suggesting that some who say that they hold to it containing actually agree with us that none are gifted to do such anymore, nor no new revelation, so really hold to ceasing in same sense we would!

I think MacArthur or one of his colleagues referred to them as closet cessationists, in that they admit that Pentecost-type gifts do not seem to be happening today. Those gifts have been replaced with something very different.

Think majority of Christians fall under that camp, as rare to find someone saying God no longer heals or does miracles period, or that we have signs and wonders exactly same way as done by Apostles!
