Recently there have been some bold insinuations regarding modern Bible translations. Just like the House 'vote' -- the evidence is lacking despite strident voices. Allegedly, some modern versions (unnamed) have been slowly and gradually been watering down Bible texts about hom _ _ _ _uality. They apparently want to tear down biblical standards, but the proof is lacking.

    Here's a 31 year old 'modern' version :
"For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error." (NRSV : Romans 1:26,27)

Here's a well-known version dealing with the same passage:

"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error." (NIV)

And last, but certainly not least -- the NLT :

"This is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved."
    ___________________________________________________________________________
The above examples put a lie to these gross insinuations. As I always reply to misrepresentations of Bible versions -- "Show me the text." If it's not in the text your accusation is worthless --groundless --baseless. Trash.

There may be some Bible versions in the future that play down Bible truths, but not the current crop. Al Mohler in 2002 said that with 5 to 10 years the words 'family' and 'marriage' would be removed from some Bible translations. Mohler was way off on a broken limb making those statements. Don't repeat his mistake.

    Matthew 19:4-6

'Haven't you read,' he replied, 'that at the beginning the Creator' made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God as joined together, let no one separate.' ( NIV)

"Haven't you read the Scriptures"? Jesus replied. "They record that from the beginning 'God made them male and female.' And he said, " 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together." (NLT)

The KJVO, having no evidence & no SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT for his/her KJVO myth, makes up stuff like this to try to find ANYTHING to support their false doctrine.

I object to fictional charges that cannot be supported by any text in the NIV. Is that too much to ask? Proof?

FYI, Yesh rarely, if ever, provides 'proof'. He just 'sounds off'.

    I Corinthians 6:9,10

"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanders nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (NIV)

"Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adulty, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people --none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God." (NLT)

I was searching online for documentation of what Mohler said, and found this:
This from a Baptist Press news article, Mohler, Draper: TNIV controversy makes HCSB translation even more important.

Not sure how much your comment tracks with mine in this thread. My point is that the OP is based at least partially on a false premise -- Rippon's mention of what Mohler said and the Mohler quote do not match up. On the other hand, perhaps there is something else Mohler said somewhere else. If it's not something he said the accusation is groundless.

Mohler's prophecy did not come to pass. His predictive ability is nil. He is known for over-the-top remarks. He needs to reign himself in.

So no admission you misquoted him? What I found does not say that he said that the words 'family' and 'marriage' would be removed from some Bible translations within 5 to 10 years. Do you have another source/another quote?

Exactly who is arguing for the removal of the words "marriage" and "family" --it didn't happen in 207 or 2012. It's 2020. We're still waiting. Mohler didn't speculate if the advocates of the removal of those words would be Christians or unbelievers. In the mainstream of Bible translations I don't see anything happening along the lines of what Mohler the wannebe prophet envisioned.

Whether yea or nay, that is still not what you wrote initially.

You can if you wish. I am simply pointing out that you started with the premise that in 2002 Al Mohler said that within 5 to 10 years the words 'family' and 'marriage' would be removed from some Bible translations. Then you produced the fact that these have not been removed from Bible translations. Winner winner chicken dinner. Except that is not what he said.
