I have yet to meet or converse with any free will Baptists who even believed that though! The lost
Or
False professors of Christ
They were never saved
Heb 6 says if we can lose it, we can never be saved again. Free Will Baptists believe this.
Interesting, as they would be the first ones ever heard of holding to that!I went to school w 7-8 and they all believed it. It was an official doctrinal statement in their denomination

Really saved, just professors, conditional saved, or what?
Just saying rarely ever ran into those holding to that, as few have heard would say one can lose their faith and just reject Jesus!Free Will Baptists believe in apostasy like the Lutherans. The position is you can be saved and lose it by your actions.
So you would tie it into the following afterwards of "but we are persuaded of you brethren?"Hebrews 6 is answering a hypothetical question, so it’s not addressing anyone or group specifically.
It answers the question of whether someone that is saved “made partakes of Holy Spirit” can lose their salvation. The answer is no. If you could lose your salvation you can never get it back because you would have to crucify Christ again.
Peace to you
Part of the answer is remembering that this epistle is addressed to Hebrews
The passage has been misunderstood and misapplied since the time it first was copied down! Now here a different viewpoint... The ones talking about are Gods children... This is not talking about those who are saved or lost... They already have a firm foundation and we will go forward building on that if God permits... The word therefore means to look at what came before... There is a tie in with Hebrews 5 and Hebrews 6... Tom said look at the people and if you would have done that instead of going on a wild goose chase then you might have understood who it was addressing... What he is telling theses Hebrew brethren is stay the course and don't entertain any ideas about returning to the synagogue.
Hebrews 6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
These are Gods blood bought children not dead alien sinners and if you can't tell the difference I don't know what to tell you... Sometime Gods children lose their way and need to be reassured as these did to stay the course... My God has told me, he loves me and all his children with an everlasting love an will not lose a one... The basic rule of Bible study is context... Context... CONTEXT!... Which the OP ignored!... Brother Glen![]()
This ties into the author saying right after this that he is persuaded of much better for them, as they have true salvation...IMO in Luke 8:4-15 we are told of 4 type of soil that the Word of God (Seed) landed upon. The first two the wayside and rocky soil are very obvious to everyone to be bad.
Howbeit even to the most mature Christian the thorny ground can be confused with the good ground. Here is where Hebrew 6:7 shows the good ground; while the rest of Hebrew 6:1-8 shows us the thorny ground; this why Hebrews 6:10 gives pretty much the same promise as Luke 8:14-15.
Yes, exactly. As stated by tynedale above, the author states he is convinced of better things concerning them,.. the things that accompany salvation. And he then speaks of those very things, one of which is perseverance. So you would tie it into the following afterwards of "but we are persuaded of you brethren?"
I have yet to read or hear any who sees it as saying one can lose their salvation also state that they can never get it back again though, as text states if holding that view!Yes, exactly. peace to you
Agreed, it is very rare. There is intellectual dishonesty on this front. Ive heard people add “unless you repent” or other phrases not in the text. They completely ignore the reason it is impossible to renew someone to repentance if they could fall away... they would have to crucify Jesus again.I have yet to read or hear any who sees it as saying one can lose their salvation also state that they can never get it back again though, as text states if holding that view!
