John 5:24-30 New King James Version (NKJV)
Life and Judgment Are Through the Son
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

The key is in the hearing to have the eternal life with God. Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Those ears would be those given as spiritually gifted ears to enable the hearing given to those God has foreknown as His own people.

Hmm. . . . I became a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior on the basis of knowing for sure of when I should die I would be going to Heaven.

I think it is a dangerous sign for someone
I think it can be a dangerous sign for a professing believer to never at anytime to have ever doubted his salvation. I think having some struggles with assurance and coming out victory can be a positive sign. I am not judging you or saying that anyone in particular is not in a state of grace and salvation, but it does worry me when people say they have never doubted their salvation.

Even Thomas doubted the Lord had risen from the grave, until he saw him... Sometimes I doubt but then I remember and sing... Blessed assurance Jesus is mine!... Not because of what I do for him but that he died for sinful me... Brother Glen:)

    I believe!

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? - 1 John 5:4-5

for several years after my salvation i never doubted my salvation - i was an oak.
i was totally convinced of my security in the Lord.
I was an assistant pastor/youth director.

Then I became clinically depressed and felt totally lost , the joy of His salvation was a long time in recovery (7 years) but it did return. Strange. but in a way i am glad i had the experience.

I heard a preacher say... The Lord can say that, he can deal with Satan no matter where he is... I don't want Satan behind me, he said no telling what he's doing back there?... I want him right in front, then I can see what he's up to... Food for thought... Brother Glen:)

Well that is a good point!

But if he’s in front of me, he’s blocking my view of the light. Like being at a baseball game and the guy in front of you has one of those foam finger gloves, no matter where I turn my head he keeps blocking my view lol

The promise to those who overcome by being born from God, that their names will not in any way be removed from the book of life, Revelation 3:5.

Now only those whose names are not in the book of life will go to the lake of fire, Revelation 20:15.

I don't agree with that assessment at all and I think you will be surprised at who actually makes it into heaven. And many among that number could even be those who do not profess the Christian faith. The fact is, in the end God will be making the final decision of all our fates.

What? You folks tell us that all one has to do is believe in Christ and salvation is assured. I don't understand how you can say what you are saying now.

Well a few things you should really note. First, our Lord tells us who will go to the lake of fire, Revelation 20:15. We need to remember regarding God's promise of eternal life He cannot lie, Titus 1:2, 1 John 5:9-13.
