    1. Should we use the term Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost? Or does it make a difference
    2. When we get to Heaven - will we be able to see the Holy Spirit?
    3. We say that the Holy Spirit is the 3rd Person - how is he a person without a body?
    4. Why does God the Father need the Holy Spirit to fulfill his will?
    5. What Roll did the Holy Spirit have in the OT?
    6. What roll will the Holy Spirit have in the tribulation
(Note: this is NOT a discussion about the tribulation -)

any other discussion you would like to bring up about the Holy Spirit.

    Doesn’t matter.

I don’t know. How many angels can dance in the head of a pin?

I never say that but, I’m guessing it’s because it can act on its own.

Hmm, what Bible passage are you referring to?

Many think that it starts with the second verse. I’m not so sure that it is the same one as comes in the New Testament. I’m looking forward to verses being shared on this one.

I don’t believe in the “tribulation”.

    1. Should we use the term Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost? Or does it make a difference. Makes absolutely no difference. You could also use Comforter, Paraclete, and more.

    2. When we get to Heaven - will we be able to see the Holy Spirit? He was seen manifested as a dove at Jesus' baptism. Why not manifested in another way in heaven?

    3. We say that the Holy Spirit is the 3rd Person - how is he a person without a body? God is a Spirit. Is He a person? Yes. Divine personage does not require flesh.

    4. Why does God the Father need the Holy Spirit to fulfill his will? Better yet, since God DOES use the Holy Spirit to fulfill his will - are we actively being submissive and led by the Holy Spirit and his guidance.

    5. What Roll did the Holy Spirit have in the OT? Start with Genesis 1:1-2.

    6. What roll will the Holy Spirit have in the tribulation? Since there are going to be so many people save that they cannot be counted - the Holy Spirit is going to be pretty busy convicted people of their sin as he does now.

In modern English, "Spirit" conveys the meaning better. In modern usage, "ghost" is usually used to refer to someone who has died that haunts a place (a false belief) and may cause unbelievers great confusion.

Probably. The question seems to assume that "spirits" are invisible. I know of no reason to make that assumption.

Unless one is a Mormon, this shouldn't be a concern. We could ask the same thing about the Father -- How is the Father a person without a body?

I don't know of any biblical passage that makes this assertion. The Spirit has eternally existed, with the Father and Son, in an eternal union of the Godhead. If the Father is doing something, the Son and Spirit will be involved. If the Son is doing something, the Father and the Spirit will be involved. If the Spirit is doing something, the Father and the Son will be involved.

The Spirit had an extensive role, from the first moments of creation ("hovering over the face of the waters") throughout every facet of God's work. Often it was not specifically called out, but one can see the work of the Spirit much clearer and more explicitly than the Son's work in the Old Testament scriptures. The Spirit even gifted the craftsmen constructing Solomon's Temple.

A question about what happens in the tribulation is certainly about the tribulation, despite your assertion.

We have been in the tribulation since the Spirit was given without measure to the people of God. The Spirit convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Spirit empowers us with giftings and guidance, aiding our communication with the Father and Son by interpreting the deepest groanings of our hearts. The Spirit is with each disciple individually and corporately as we go about our business upon the earth, and will remain with us in the resurrection and through all eternity.

I say Holy Ghost because it seems to really perturb liberals and makes people suspicious that I am a charismatic, which I am not.

I gave you a "like" because I thought that you had a very brilliant answer to question # five! But then Ken Ham made a gung-ho YEC out of me down in northern Kentucky--but that Aussie says that he is a Biblical Creationist, not a YEC. Now he must have had a lot of help from the Holy Ghost to come from being a school teacher in Brisbane, Australia, to now be in charge of the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Answers in Genesis in Hebron, and Ark Encounter in Williamsburg--all of it world-class!

The point being is that I do not want this thread to turn into a general debate about the tribulation (or lack there of).

    Thought provoking subject, Salty, thanks.

    1) The Bible speaks of the Third Person of the Trinity as the Holy Spirit. I think Ghost carries too much baggage (Casper?).
But another name (Paraclete or Helper) might reduce ambiguity when referring to our indwelling "Holy Spirit" or "Spirit of Christ" or "Spirit of Truth" or "Spirit of Adoption," Thus we were sealed in Christ with the Paraclete.

    3) Scripture indicates the Holy Spirit possesses personhood because of the Spirit's Intellect, Will, and Emotion

    4) The question "Why is God like this and not that" sometimes is the first step in creating a god of our liking. We have His revelation and certainly many people understand that revelation differently, so a wise course is to stick with central and avoid the fringe speculation. Scripture does describe the differing roles for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Sorry I could not address your other questions, but a quick study did not provide anything that might be useful. :)

The Holy Spirit is the Person of the Trinity that authored to us thru men the very word of God, who conceived Jesus in Mary, who does the work of regenrating, saving, and sealing the redeemed, and he raised Jesus fromn the dead, and He will be the one lives in and works among the living body of Jesus Christ!

The Holy Spirit is what and who for which the Son of God can be a different person from God the Father and be the very same God. The Son, the Word was always with God as someone other than God and always was God too, being the same substance. The Father, Son and Spirit are the same YHWH, same essense. John 4:24, Romans 8:9, Romans 8:16. Distinct Persons yet the One without being parts YHWH.

Both. [A spirit is always she in the OT.]
A distinct Person, It in Romans 8:16. He as the Comforter, John 16:8.

The simple answer has to do with the language grammar. Hebrew spirit is in the feminine. In the Greek spirit is neuter. And in the respective grammars the pronous need to agree. The title Comforter in the Greek is in the masculine. The problem is in English "it" is generally never used to refer to a person.
