Rev. 13:16 6 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Preterists say this has already occurred. If any pret reads this, please try to explain when this occurred & what the mark looked like. (And please, no ignorant "explanations" such as "The mark was a Roman shekel coin used in Jerusalem at that time.")

I believe the mark will be some sorta implanted microchip. The tech for it exists right now ! If you preterists believe it's already happened, please explain why & how.

The antichrist will promote the "mark" as a loss-proof, theft-proof tool to replace cash & cards. he will come up with some innocent-sounding name for it. But it still won't really catch on til the rapture occurs, removing most opposition to it. Then, having gained full power, he will make it compulsory, eliminating all other forms of currency & doing his best to eliminate trade & barter. Trib saints will have a difficult time surviving, to put it mildly !

I believe that it will be something that will make known that the person accepts antichrist and is denying Jesus Christ!

Your link is pret nonsense. The author reduces some Scriptures to "figurative/symbolic" status.

Most Scripture is LITERAL. What symbolism there is always represents something literal. The 'beast' represents both the antichrist/man of sin & his empire. And his mark will be a literal thing, & an implanted microchip seems most likely. The tech already exists !

I favor an implanted microchip, as Scripture says one will receive it in the right hand or forehead. A tattoo, etc. could easily be altered or duplicated.

I have a challenge, let’s walk through Revelation verse by verse and see who the first one is to abandon a literal interpretation. Whoever first abandons a literal interpretation self bans from the board for a year. First verse, Revelation 1:1.

I said MOSTLY literal. And if you read some of my previous posts elsewhere, you'll see I said that what symboliosm there is,ALWAYS represents something literal. I cited the example of Rev. 17 where the angel that showed that vision to John explained what its various sights stood for.

You tried to move the goalposts, knowing I said, "MOSTLY-literal".

I could've said the same thing in reverse, challenging you to find the 1st verse of Rev that has a "figurative/symbolic" interp. But I prefer to let history and reality speak for themselves, as Scripture shapes & governs both.

Let's look at Rev. 13. The beast from the sea clearly represents both a man and an empire. There's no description given for the beast from the earth except it has 2 horns like a lamb, but spoke as a dragon. Now we know Satan is often called a dragon, ot the dragon, while Jesus is often called the Lamb of God. Thus, the beast from the earth iill be a kind of a fake Jesus, & be able to perform miracles as empowered by Satan. He will be the first beast's sidekick & deputy.

There's nothing here to suggest the mark will be symbolic, and right now I believe it'll be some sorta implanted microchip, unless better tech comes along. But it'll definiely be a PHYSICAL, DETECTABLE thing.

And remember, Gabriel, speaking to Daniel, and Paul, writing from direct communication with Jesus, also prophesied the coming of an evil man who wouldn't recognize any god but himself, & who would rule the world. And we see in Rev. 13 that he will be directly allied with Satan. And Rev. 13 is the first mention of the mark of the beast, and, from the context, of that chapter & the rest of Rev, there's no reason to not believe it'll be a physical thing.

How are phrases like ‘shortly come to pass’ and ‘near’ symbolic? The original audience would have taken it literally just like anyone else today would.

Secondly read your verse again, it says ON the hand or forehead not IN. Literal reading?
