LOL..... Let me rephrase.... It does no good to say "that is wrong" without expounding on why it's wrong.

I'm not disagreeing with @Iconoclast but asking for his explanation of why Article 2 is wrong (as a Calvinist he probably takes exception to all 5 Articles as Calvinism holds all of them to be wrong).

    Article 3
Agreed...man was rendered spiritually dead at the moment Adam fell.
Here is the common error of supposing the will of man to be free

They recovered themselves, and came back to the biblical understanding.

No. I just know what Hebrews 9 teaches about the perfect work of The One True High Priest. When people depart from the truth, they try and cover their tracks by using biblical ideas out of context, then mixing in their error.
Anyone understanding the truth of an actual redemption, will not fall for the falsehood of a potential redemption. My Lord said, it was FINISHED

What I mean is why do you disagree with Article 2 (not "because it is wrong" or "because I interpret Hebrews 9 in such a way I view it as wrong").

I'm dropping out of this thread as somebody continues on using colored fonts in bold format for no apparent reason. Colored fonts are very difficult to read on my phone using a dark background color scheme.

Once again we see a bait and switch, we start out with John 3:16 and the meaning of "world" but before the end of page 1 the topic gets switched (post 17) to Cal/Arm debate. This thread should be moved to the Cal/Arm forum, or we should stop moving any thread to that forum.

How about you upgrade your phone to one that can handle a full spectrum of colors.
Do you still have a black and white Tv. with rabbit ears?

this thread is a continuation of a friendly discussion with Reynolds.
He was kind enough to post this link, so out of respect to him, I suggested we start this thread and discuss related scriptures.
the thread is on topic and doing fine.
Read it again from the beginning and follow the progression.
Also I did not want to stress out Kyred, who started a worthy thread but was viciously attacked for his efforts.

    No JonC.
once again I disagree with it, because it deviates from Hebrews 9 directly.
you do not have to agree.
    you might not understand Hebrews9.
I am posting what I need to post to answer concerns raised by Reynolds.
He will comment when he gets around to it.

The friendly discussion of the meaning of "world" might be on topic, but a discussion of the various Arminianism articles belongs on the other forum.

in this thread we are looking at the teaching involved.
This is more a general bible study.
only get involved if you have self control.

Of course they recovered themselves. They had the free will to do so. They did not do it in their own power, but the power of Christ which they freely accepted, because no one is forced to act one way or the other. It is easier to act in one direction. It is going downstream. The problem no one addresses is that when we accept via free will, God himself reverses the current of the stream. The water is now flowing the other direction. Not by our will, but by God's Will. Now it is once more easy to just go with the flow.

No. I do disagree with it (the article and probably your interpretation of Hebrews).

I was asking if you could expound on your opinion. If you cannot that's fine.

I can when there is someone who wants to learn.
That does not seem to be the case yet.
My opinion is not that important, neither is yours.
The teaching of Hebrews9 is what is important.

Having obtained eternal redemption....is by definition....Eternal.

    Hello T fly
    Man has a will.
    Man makes choices.
Man's will and choices, are bound by his nature.

If I did not want to learn how you defend your conclusions I would not have asked.

Now that I know, I should have guessed.

My phone can handle all colors. I bet my 2 year old phone is more capable than whatever thing you're using.

I prefer to use what is called "Dark Mode" on my phone. That means the background is black instead of bright white. That saves battery because the screen doesn't need to light up all pixels to white color and it saves my eyeballs from looking at mostly white space.

I still have a black and white TV with rabbit ears but I haven't used it in 30 years. It's in storage.
