There are times when “The Angel” of the Lord accepts worship from people as with Joshua. Other angels do not.
That might give us a clue if it’s God, the Eternal Son, or not.

Yes, as he assumes the name and take son the attrubutes of God Himself, so see Him as a preincarnate God the Son!
One example The Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses from the burning bush and later Jesus said before Abraham was born I AM which is what Moses was told when he asked who sent me.

Angels conveying messages, like at the Tomb, do not seem to be God.
Sometimes. You have to look at context. Cant build doctrine on an article that is rendered differently in many translations.
Another strong reference..... Then Gideon perceived that it was the angel of the LORD; and Gideon said, "Help me, Lord GOD! For I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face." But the LORD said to him, "Peace be to you; do not fear, you shall not die" (Judges 6:22).
Why do you think it matters?
How does believing one or the other change one’s behavior?
Why does 90% of what is discussed on here matter. He wants to discuss it. Its an interesting topic. Why not discuss it.
I taught this in a Sunday school class once and I could see the eyes of the class widen as I did. Its personally one of my favorite topics. I treat it like a CSI investigation and ask Why did the Jews want to stone Him to death when he said before Abraham was born I AM? Was He?
How would you know, since study teaches the opposite.
How many references would result in your posting that your view was nonsense?
In Judges 6:21-23 the Angel of the LORD disappeared, yet Gideon kept talking to Yahweh.
