Interesting that he would use the term "thrown out". It's eerily close to "cut off from among their people" used in the Levitical law: [Lev 18:29 KJV] For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit [them] shall be cut off from among their people.

My question for him is this: Was it ever the right thing to do to cut off from their people those who commit abomination, like homosexuality? If so, how do we know that's not the right thing to do now? If not, was God wrong to tell the Israelites this?

Everybody likes Pope Francis, he is so personable, an angel of light.

    And no marvel,
    for Satan himself is transformed
    into an angel of light.
    2 Corinthians 11:14

The Law of Moses was only given to the ancient Israelites, never to Gentiles.

Why does it not? Or did you not ask if the Law of Moses applies right now?

For verily I say unto you,
    Till heaven and earth pass,
one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law,
    till all be fulfilled.
    Matthew 5:18

I guess heaven and earth have passed now that the Gentiles are included in the church.

Colossians 2:13–14 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. (ESV)

John Gill's commentary - "it is no more as administered by Moses, as a covenant of works, or as to its rigorous exaction, curse, and condemnation; this is true of the whole law of Moses, as well as of the ceremonial, which is utterly abolished and disannulled in every sense, because of the weakness and unprofitableness of it"

So the heaven and earth that your Lord talked about is cancelled out by another scripture and a theologian?
Christ just did not know what was to happen in the future, then.

    Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law.

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." (ESV)

Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law on our behalf. This present heavens and earth will pass away when Jesus Christ returns to establish the new heavens and earth.

    Phew!
    Had me worried there.
How about the 10 commandments in the Law?
We don't have to obey those do we?
All of it is fulfilled right?
    Boy, I'm in trouble.

Jesus warned the disciples, His people, the world loves its own, but it hates (persecutes) the children of God. The pope speaks like the OT false prophets spoke. saying God would not judge Israel for their sins, God was going to deliver and bless them, when they were doing evil things, and refused to repent at the preaching of the true prophets whose blood they shed. Honestly don't see how that church can reconcile what they say with what scriptures says. One way round that they have, is they consider Church traditions and doctrines the equal of scripture. And these homosexual people in marriage unions are not the children of God as the Pope calls them. Catholics have a long history of calling those of the world the children of God, as do many other pagan minded Christians.

    1 John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

    1. well it got in a pickle with this numbering here.

    2. Romans 8:16
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

    Romans 8:17
and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Bergoglio is aligned with a liberal German wing who helped him get elected and are financially secure and powerful. Thus he is able to express his aberrant opinions without consequences from within the RCC. Bergoglio has long been a joke.

Here's my post. Please tell me where I said that. I specifically asked if it should have been applied to the Israelites, and how do we know it's not the right thing to do now. I'm not talking about the Law of Moses, I'm talking about cutting off homosexuals from "their people", which I equated, to some degree, with "throwing out" homosexuals.
What do you think, KenH? Was it ever right for someone to "throw out" homosexuals? Why or why not? And if it was right at one time, why is it wrong to do so now? If it was never right to do so, was God wrong to tell the Israelites that it was the right thing to do?
