Thank you for providing a link to the actual document. So many times I just see the misleading headlines and extremely selective quotes and have to go hunt down the original material to figure out what is actually true. The 28 page document can be found HERE
A person making an appeal for the separation of church and state is not necessarily an “enemy of the cross.”I like that it clearly identifies the enemies of the cross.
So not supporting the Lord Jesus at all, and becoming His enemy as a nation reflects traditional Baptist values?Thank you for providing a link to the actual document. So many times I just see the misleading headlines and extremely selective quotes and have to go hunt down the original material to figure out what is actually true.
Saying that, I think "Restoring Constitutional Secularism and Patriotic Pluralism in the White House" is a very good plan. After reading all 28 pages, I have only a few quibbles with it. It aligns very nicely with historic Baptist convictions, so I hope the Biden Administration takes this advice.
You do know that they want to take God out of the public square period?A person making an appeal for the separation of church and state is not necessarily an “enemy of the cross.”
From the very beginning of the Baptist movement, Baptists have sought to remove the influence of government from matters of religious conscience and keep religious groups from using the government’s influence and compulsion to force outward compliance to religious practice.
The premise that separation of church and state “removes Christian influence from American culture is false, unless one believes that the gospel has no power unless the government promotes, supports, or compels persons to give outward assent to the gospel.
Who is they? You do know that they want to take God out of the public square period?
I'll have to peruse it more, but the gist of the secularist movement is to scrub all godly influence and instead favor godless influence. The most dangerous false premise behind this is that secularists, that is, those who reject or deny God, are unbiased in their assessments and favor no belief system and thus should be preferred, while those who identify as Christian are biased and predisposed to that belief system and thus must be opposed by society at large. If that premise aligns nicely with the historical Baptist position, then both should be abandoned posthaste as a lie from the devil.Thank you for providing a link to the actual document. Liberal dems and fake media!Who is they?
The Founders NEVER envisioned having a nation whose morality was not based upon principles of the Bible, nor would they see things such as prayers and bible out of the workplace and schools!I'll have to peruse it more, but the gist of the secularist movement is to scrub all godly influence and instead favor godless influence. So not supporting the Lord Jesus at all…
Institutional separation of church and state DOES NOT make us an enemy of Jesus.…and becoming His enemy as a nation reflects traditional Baptist values?

Who told you that, David Barton? If so, you need to know that he is a propagandist, not a historian. His books cherry-pick quotes to provide only the information that supports his assertions. The Founders NEVER envisioned having a nation whose morality was not based upon principles of the Bible...
No one can stop anyone else from praying, and the Bible is not prohibited from schools. The workplace has a right to set up an environment that is conducive to getting work done. That said, I have never encountered a place where a company would not allow someone to carry a Bible on their person or have it in their personal space.nor would they see things such as prayers and bible out of the workplace and schools!
Some do "judge all others," including Christians. But that's the beauty of the separation of church and state. The government has to remain neutral toward religious belief or unbelief.Humanists and secularists claim to want no religion, but they have a very strong "religion", and will judge all others if going against that!
The premise is that everyone has biases, and religious convictions should be left to one's own conscience, not supported or suppressed by the government. The most dangerous false premise behind this is that secularists, that is, those who reject or deny God, are unbiased in their assessments and favor no belief system and thus should be preferred, while those who identify as Christian are biased and predisposed to that belief system and thus must be opposed by society at large. The Dems and media want to eliminate all mention of the Lord Jesus though, as want NOTHING to do with Godly morality and values!Who told you that, David Barton? If so, you need to know that he is a propagandist, not a historian. His books cherry-pick quotes to provide only the information that supports his assertions.

The Federal govt wants us to have No God but it!The premise is that everyone has biases, and religious convictions should be left to one's own conscience, not supported or suppressed by the government.
The Fed Govt wants to have all religions seen as being equal, so in the minds of the dem and Media us witnessing for Jesus and speaking out against Islam and Homosexuals and abortion mills would be hate speech!Who told you that, David Barton? The Jesus of the Dems liberals and the medias is NOT the same Jesus of the Bible! What “Jesus” are you talking about? Is it the Jesus that is the mascot for all of our selfish desires, or the biblical Jesus, Who:
…is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: 16 for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
– Colossians 1:15-17
The Jesus described in the New Testament does not need our support, we desperately need His support. And He has clearly stated that His kingdom is quite different from this world’s kingdoms/governments, if it was, His disciples would be fighting for Him (John 18:36). Yet you either don’t know or understand that Jesus does not want us fighting the government to presumptively set Him up as an authority in our worldly kingdoms (including the United States), but to be His ambassadors of another Kingdom (2 Corinthians 5:20), the Kingdom of God.
Which Jesus do you follow?
Institutional separation of church and state DOES NOT make us an enemy of Jesus.
May I remind you, who is posting in a Baptist-only section of the site, that religious liberty is a hallmark of Baptist thinking from the very beginning. Institutional separation of church and state is the direct political policy outgrowth of that Baptist conviction, and Baptists were extremely influential in the push for the US Bill of Rights, where the First Amendment dealt explicitly with freedom of expression, freedom of conscience and the relationship between the church and the state.
If you are opposed to true religious liberty in human kingdoms, including the right of people not to believe the way you do, then you are not truly a Baptist, you are some other kind of Christian.
Look at the words you use: “…take God out of the public square…”
Idols can be removed from the public square, the God revealed Who revealed Himself to the Old Testament saints and prevails throughout the earth in all kinds of cultures cannot be ‘taken out’ by human beings. He does not live in temples made by human hands (Acts 7:48, 17:24*), but dwells in those who follow Him in discipleship (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we bring Him glory when we reflect His love and nature to everyone we encounter. As Jesus taught, both He AND we are the light of the world (John 8:12, 9:5; Matthew 5:14-16; Philippians 2:15) that reveals the glory of God. Therefore, the idea that ANYONE can “…take God our of the public square…” is silly and subChristian.
Jesus did not tell us to enact His will or fight battles through the political process (although, working for justice, equity, and for the needs of the poor can certainly involve that), but to work through the power of the Holy Spirit to transform the world (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 2:3-6) and reflect His kingdom.
