Yes, could use the NAB, or Rsv catholic for that!Do you think you could lead a Roman Catholic to the Lord by using their RC bible?
Some of the Dennis family that runs Crossway converted to Roman Catholicism and now there's a Roman Catholic edition ESV!Yes, could use the NAB, or Rsv catholic for that!
Hope not their version then of the Esv SB!Some of the Dennis family that runs Crossway converted to Roman Catholicism and now there's a Roman Catholic edition ESV!
What very interesting is think that the1611 Kjv originally had the Apocrypha in it also!@Using a Catholic bible is easy...the NT is pretty much identical. The big difference between a Catholic version and a non-Catholic version is the inclusion of the apocripha (sp). (Its late, I'm tired, taught this morning and went to class this afternoon). Admittedly I got saved after reading an NIV...but I went back and looked and if I remember correctly, there's pretty much no big difference. Eventually I'll get around to doing a comparison if you want.
For the record, I was born, baptized, raised, educated and confirmed in the Catholic Church. By the time I graduated from high school (Catholic high school), I was an atheist. Fast forward many years...I was saved on 4/11/1999 and baptized in believer's baptism in October of 2001

Would they accept that edition as being perfect English translation still? But dont tell the KJO club about that - they dont know about it!
Do you mean the KJV with the Apocrypha?Would they accept that edition as being perfect English translation still?
Yes. We have a tract we have used that presents the way of salvation all from verses in the Douay-Rheims Bible. And, of course, you can use most verses from that Bible. You can view the Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition and the New American Bible on Bible Gateway. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops actually have approved fourteen translations (some not complete Bibles) for use by Catholics. See HERE. That may make it a bit harder, than we might once have expected them all to have the same Bible.Do you think you could lead a Roman Catholic to the Lord by using their RC bible?
I am waiting to hear from some of our resident KJVO!Do you mean the KJV with the Apocrypha?
Good question. --- NO, Excellent question
This is Salty's thread, not mine, so I suppose if he wants to turn his thread in a fellowship forum about witnessing to Catholics into another debate about Bible versions, he certainly can. As for me, you probably know that I will discuss the subject. However, it wears thin when brought up all the time when the discussion is really about something else!Dr. Bob's Eleven Simple Rules for Posting said:"8. Stop turning every single thread into a KJV vs. all other versions discussion..." Eleven Simple Rules for Posting
YesDo you think you could lead a Roman Catholic to the Lord by using their RC bible?
The Holy Spirit can use even the Koran or NWT to have the elect of God saved!
well, problem for the Church of Rome is that encouraging members to tread and study bible on their own can cause some to depart! The New American Bible is the "official" bible of the Catholic church...if I remember right (and I'm reaching back here), they don't do a whole lot of quoting from other translations except maybe the Douay and New Jerusalem Bible for their bible studies and official religious education. Personal bible reading was not encouraged when I was in school and I don't think it is now.

What is ironic to me is that while conservative Christians told must not bring politics into church period, the liberal Christians have for decades done just that! That was the beginning of my exit. Found out all the stuff I had been taught was not mentioned in the bible. Started with an NIV, eventually made my way to the KJV...now to find a good bible church here that leaves politics at the door. I am IFB by theology but have issues with the political slant.
Who are conservative Christians? Certainly you are not referring to TRUMP Following who are anything but conservative! They are just sycophants posing as true conservatives, evidence Peter Navarro - Card carrying life long Democrat (trade war Pete). What is ironic to me is that while conservative Christians told must not bring politics into church period, the liberal Christians have for decades done just that!
