Thank you! I have great respect for those that know the derivations.
This may not help, since it may not be directly related to "hades". Nevertheless, the word "helle" is found in the Anglo-Saxon Gospels, translated circa AD 1000. For example, it is found in Matthew 16:18, which you mention above. However, I think the general consensus is that they translated from the Latin rather than the Greek. The Vulgate has "inferi" in that place.

We have not even started on the context Paul used "Hades" yet.

Here we go. do you believe that hades is a place of suffering for the wicked lost? Do you believe in a real place, the Bible calls the Lake of Fire, where these will suffer eternally? I am still not seeing the point in you fixed on Paul's use of hades in 1 Cor? This is not the only place that it is used in the Bible. State your case here.

I believe everything in the Bible, but not all translations or interpretations presented by mass religion.
I've noticed a consistent pattern of you wanting to avoid I Cor 15:55 and the context it's in. In my OP, I've stated I'm interested in others interpretation. No one has responded yet - only stalls and firewalls.
Is my question and indelicate question?
I've not even asked yet, if you're Inside or Outside the "Gates of Hell" based in Matthew 16:18.
Imagine the waffling on that one.

The religious bigots of Jesus day crucified the Word of God, as they do in these days also. But the Word always Resurrects.
Those banning only show their weakness and ineptitude by not responding with depth and intelligence.
