If the covers are James Bonded 007 style then no worries.

And also no problems in the short term with "occasional" reading.

With wear first the edges will lose the color (at least the one I use has) then comes cracking and more "flaking".

I keep mine presentable with Kiwi Leather Dye (black), about $6.

For longer term less worry wear I suggest full grain leather from a cow, goat, water buffalo, or similar animal.

The "leather look" (synthetic cover) bibles wear out even more quickly than bonded leather in my opinion.

Some online bible sellers will describe these type (leather look) bibles as being leather so be careful.

When looking say, online, for a bible add the word "premium".
