I will run this by you brethren and see what you think about it... The old earth as I see it is old Adam, before the Adam man was redeemed by Jesus Christ, the high priest had to go into the Holiest of Holies every year and atone for the sins by a sacrifice of blood, yearly... Christ is our high priest now and not only that, we have been born again from above and belong to God and Jesus Christ and are a royal priesthood... and being born again we present our bodies as a living sacrifice... New heaven... Christ is in us the hope of Glory... It is his righteousness and not ours that, God the Father looks through his Son Jesus Christ to us, the reason everything is new is because we are all Christ's... Jesus Christ appeased his Father we could NEVER appease and the Godhead declared it and approved it... He is OUR Savior, He is OUR righteousness, we are not OUR own!... Brother Glen:)

“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9–11 (KJV 1900)

I think this is a major obstacle to the Preterist position. Also, Preterism comes from the same deceptive Jesuits that Dispensationalism comes from. Both teachings designed to deceive Protestants from thinking the Papacy is the Antichrist.

You ever meditate on this one?:

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished. Mt 5

....ye also were made dead to the law........we have been discharged from the law..... Ro 7:4,6

....the old covenant......is done away..... 2 Cor 3:14

....having abolished ......the law of commandments contained in ordinances....... Eph 2:15

    ALL preterism is false.

History proves this. The ONLY visible, physical return of Jesus to earth he mentions in the Rev is when He comes to cast the beast & false prophet alive into hell & set up His physical earthly kingdom, while Satan is banished to the abyss.

He won't come to earth at the rapture. He will call the saints to Himself, not Him coming to them. And these events simply haven't yet happened. No amount of rhetoric or attempts to re-write history can change that !

John the Baptist was the “forerunner” of the Messiah. And he did fulfill that role.

In those times, if a king planned to visit an area of his kingdom, a representative (forerunner) would go ahead to insure the visit would go smoothly. They would build roads or bridges to make sure paths were straight. They would prepare local people and officials on what would be expected of them.

John the Baptist’s ministry was a transitional ministry. He prepared the people and officials that the sacrificial system was coming to an end. No longer would sacrifices be necessary in a temple for forgiveness, but repentance was necessary. He laid the foundation that the once for all sacrifice of the Christ (The Lamb that takes away the sin of the world) was upon them.

So, yes, he fulfilled the prophecy concerning the forerunner coming in the spirit of Elijah that makes the paths straight.

    peace to you

I notice you ignored 2 Peter 3 and my question. Read it and ask how that can be accomplished in 70CE.

Then you agree that the language is hyperbole, or apocalyptic, or metaphorical, or whatever you want to call it, anything but literal, just as meant by the 'new heaven and new earth'. That was my point. Thank you.

I notice you never really pondered the implication of the passages.

Peter was apostle to the circumcision, his audience was Jewish, the language was hyperbole, or apocalyptic, or metaphorical, or whatever you want to call it, anything but literal, just as meant by the 'new heaven and the new earth' and John the Baptist raised valleys, leveled mountains, straightened crooked roads, smoothed rough places and a multitude of other such passages.

It was prophetic and literally fulfilled by John. Just prior to the beginning of Jesus’s ministry.

The reality of the “new heaven new earth” may be beyond our comprehension this side of heaven, but it will certainly not be this world where we currently live.

    peace to you

And, more recently, Ed Stevens. At any rate, if I was counting numbers I would never be a Preterist.

It is hard to get people to see this simple fact. Using the verses you posted we are either under the entirety of the Mosaic Law or we are in the time after the time heaven and earth passed away. How can it be any clearer that this is not astronomy that we are talking about?

Literally? He literally leveled mountains? Which ones? He literally raised valleys? Where?

I totally agree the prophecies were fulfilled, but not in the literal sense.

If the new heaven and earth are not here now, as you are insisting, then we are still in the old heaven and earth.
And if we are still in the old heaven earth then, according to Matt. 5:18, we are still under the Law. Every single jot and tittle.
