    I worked with three ladies in my factory making samples. These ladies were all Baptist, cheerful, decent, and I would not doubt if they were to tell me they were eternally saved, especially as I didn't see it in their character. And this was also true of the old people in the Baptist church I was brought up in.

    And then my generation came along.

    In the Baptist church I was brought up in we had a large youth group and all the adults thought of them as angels and good saved Christians. That was until someone busted them in one of their dope smoking parties. I also met a lady who is in her fifties as well as I. This lady was Baptist, single, never married, and I thought we were the perfect fit... But the more that woman talked... Come to find out that she sees nothing wrong with the party or sex scene. I finally, after enduring much talk on carnality, said to her, "You know Maxine I don't believe you can do those things and get to heaven!" Almost immediately she replies, "Are you trying to threaten my salvation?"

    Well, if she thought YOU could affect her salvation, I would opine that she really had no idea what SALVATION really was!!

    I would not argue that.

    I see many, especially nowadays, that live like the world and aren't, as I was, miserable and ashamed the whole time that I was doing it.

    God's word says that His people will seek to obey Him and to:

    " Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
    16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
    17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
    ( 1 John 2:15-17 ).

    Speaking for myself, I was involved in quite a bit of sinful behavior when I was a newer believer ( as a teenager and well into my 20's and early 30's ),
    and I regret today not having had someone ( other than my mother ) confront me more for it...especially in a loving manner.

    I know that given what the Lord had started in me, I would have responded favorably to the correction that passages such as 1 Corinthians 5, 1 Corinthians 6, 1 Corinthians 7, Colossians 3, and I later did, by God's grace.

    Something tells me that those who profess Christ with the lips but in practice continuously deny the evidence of knowing Him personally, have never been born again;
    They see nothing wrong with going out and living any old way that they please, not realizing that that is exactly what the Lord gave Himself on the cross for.

    It seems salvation takes hold in a great variety of ways these days. Those ladies I made samples for were all Baptist, cheerful, decent, and what salvation they laid hold of kept them that way. I would not hesitate to believe each of them, along with those I was brought up with, and your mother as well, will hear a, “well done thou good and faithful servant” at their arrival at pearly gates. With my generation…. I don’t know!

    When you look at what we are being taught by society and in the church is it any wonder that many today feel there is no consequence for their actions. Sin is now just a mistake. Were not called sinners as that is to negative and we have to be careful not to offend anyone.

    My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you… -Galatians 4:19

    Once the Christ is formed the fruits will follow! And we can rejoice in such a one!
