    The latest news is the impact of a major study on climate change is dangerous warming, with -
    increase in temperature and risk of wild fires;
    increase in incidence of storms and risk of flooding;
    rise in ocean temperatures, resulting in melting of polar ice caps, with rise in sea level endangering many islands and coastal cities;
    intense cold spells;
    resultant adverse conditions for food and water supply;
    etc.

    This is attributed primarily to man's activity, particularly burning fossil fuels and resultant raising CO2 levels, destruction of rain forests, pollution of rivers & oceans with the resultant last of beneficial life and destruction of the marine ecosystem, etc. I DON'T WANT TO ARGUE THIS IN THIS THREAD. NOR DO I WANT TO ARGUE DISPENSATIONALISM OR OTHER PROPHETIC SYSTEMS.

    Mat. 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
    36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

    Gen. 6:5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

    EVERYONE KNOWS WE ARE FACING A CATASTROPHIC ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER. HOW DO WE RESPOND AS CHRISTIANS?

    In former years Christians have warned of our LORD's return, often with dates that have never been right. Also we have seen caricatures of "sandwich board witnesses" announcing doom - and with a lion just round the corner to deliver doom to the witness.

    I propose to use my picture to warn sinners - and give the good news of the Gospel.

    Look around the world -
    the evils of the disregard for God-given human life results in widespread abortion;
    rejection of the male-female distinction resulting in multisexual promiscuity;
    persecution of Christians preaching from the Bible regarding sexuality;
    slaughter of people because they adhere to the wrong religion;
    wars that destroy non-combatants, homes, schools, hospitals; farmland, ater supplies, etc;
    prestige projects that consume resources without benefit;
    racism, to the extent of criminalising refugees and those who help them;
    false Christianity that deceives people into thinking that because Jesus died to save the world, everybody is going to heaven.
    God looks around his world and sees what we can see. We worship a God of providence who provided so much to sustain the world after the flood - seedtime, harvest, summer and winter, cold and heat, and a rainbow to assure us that he would not destroy the world again by a flood - while the earth remains.
    Gen. 9:16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

    We know that Jesus will come again for resurrection and judgment, so that the world as we know it will not continue indefinitely.

    THIS CLIMATE WARNING SURELY GIVES US AN TREMENDOUS OPPORTUITY FOR PREACHING THE GOSPEL AND THE COMING JUDGMENT.

    Acts 17: 30 "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

    There is catastrophic global WARNING! Don't you read the papers or watch TV? This thread is about using that warning for the GOSPEL.

    Once again the claim that burning fossil fuel is significant as a cause of (1) global climate change, and (2) the measured increase in CO2 level.
    However our historical record shows both that (1) our planet has been warmer and colder than now without the burning of fossil fuel, and (2) the level of C02 in the atmosphere has been much higher in the past without the burning of fossil fuel. Thus the claim does not pass the smell test. Full stop

    And there is nothing wrong with the view that the return of Christ is imminent.

    Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds | Baptist Christian Forums (baptistboard.com)

    ...the REAL green new deal:

    "From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25.

    An international team of 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries led the effort, which involved using satellite data from NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instruments to help determine the leaf area index, or amount of leaf cover, over the planet’s vegetated regions. The greening represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees equivalent in area to two times the continental United States." …"

    I think the point that @Covenanter is making is that a lot of people are getting very worried by changes in temperature, floods, droughts, wildfires etc., and we should be thinking of the right way to use their concern to call them to repentance and faith in Christ.

    The point about Amos 4:6-13 is that temporal chastisements by God, if unheeded, lead to final judgement. The Northern kingdom went into permanent exile when it ignored God's warnings and punishments.

    here is my attitude toward all that stuff, This world is going to be thrown into the furnace of God's wrath
    Matthew 6:30
    Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

    2 Peter 3
    The Day of the Lord
    10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

    Be Steadfast
    14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you

    Looking forward to these things, means they are inevitable, these things are written in His book and can not be altered. And also looking forward to these things, a perspective of desiring to be clothed with our glorified bodies in the coming age of the resurrection.

    The climate goes through slight fluctuations in temperature due to sun spot activities. No global warming. No sea level rise. No polar ice caps melting (beyond a normal ebb and flow).

    There is a direct correlation to wildfire activity and the states ceasing forest conservation programs that cleared the forests of undergrowth and fire breaks.

    In short, the “environmental” programs caused the increased wildfires.

    peace to you

    Agree, it seems to me the sun output energy overwhelmingly determines temperature cycles.
    Supposedly we are going into fewer sunspots, solar scientists says that causes cooling.
    Drop in Sunspot Activity a Warning of Global Cooling | Principia Scientific Intl. (principia-scientific.com)
    Extremely Low Sunspots Indicate Global Cooling (climatechangedispatch.com)

    This goes against their talking point narrative so the effect is massively discounted by the false science of our time.

    Would you really expect an "international panel on climate change" to put themselves out of a job by saying that there is nothing to worry about?

    THIS THREAD IS NOT TO AFFIRM NOR DENY GLOBAL WARNING.
    IT IS TO DISCUSS MAKING USE OF THE HEADLINE NEWS OF THE POTENTIAL CLIMATE DISASTER WE ARE SAID TO BE FACING FOR THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL.

    Using a false narrative to spread the gospel is a bad idea.

    Just tell the truth of Jesus Christ and Him crucified and don’t try to manipulate people with a false fear of climate change.

    Once the converts realize the narrative of climate change is a lie, they might conclude your gospel is a lie as well.

    peace to you
