Did the people treat you ok?

Get by with rudimentary language skill ?

Any tour guides or all self-directed travel?

Over all people were pretty decent. There were exceptions, like that lady in Izyum I wrote about. Our Russian and a bit of Ukrainian helped a lot. Not knowing Russian has been a lot worse, since many places they did not speak English. Also, just as in Georgia, translation apps helped.

My wife and I pretty much traveled wherever we wanted, after the strictest Covid restrictions were lifted. At first we could not even leave our oblast (county). Fortunately that was in the city of Odessa, lots to see there.
