Luke 23:56 tells us the women prepared spices the day before the Sabbath. And that morning after the Sabbath brought spices they had prepared. Now John's account was written some 60 years later, tells us Jesus' body was wrapped with about 100 pounds of spices John 19:39-40.

John 11:39, ". . . Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. . . ."

But WHY the need to do this? WHY say that this is not recorded in Matthew's Gospel, as if this is some big deal?

They had very little time to prepare the body before sunset (the Sabbath began at sunset). Jesus died about 3pm. They had to get permission to take Him down and to the crept.

They worked as fast as they could to prepare His body with the spices and death cloth. They used 100 pounds of spices (fit for a King), but didn’t quite finish.

The women were going to finish the job.

No problems with the different accounts.

It is a big deal. Matthew"s account I believe is the earliest gospel. That Mark was written shortly after Matthew's account. Luke's account was written during the time of the
Apostle Paul's ministry. And John's account was written before the Revelation was given.

Here is a bigger problem. Popular myth as truth. The 14th of Nisan Passover was in fact the day before the evening Jesus eat the Passover with His disciples, Mark 14:12-16. "And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover." Reference Exodus 12:6 and Exodus 12:18.

Now the Jewish days begin with their eveings, the 15th of Nisan, Mark 14:17, "And in the evening he cometh with the twelve. . . ."

A short comment could have been, Jesus was taken off the cross after sunset Thursday evening. But that is not commonly understood.

So, your saying the next day, a Friday, was the Passover Sabbath as stated in John 19?

I’m talking about John 19 which clearly states the Jewish leaders wanted the bodies taken down before sunset because that started the Sabbath Passover

Becaused I had not given all the answers. Multiple questions each have separate answers.
There is only one real historical date for the crucifixion.
All the others are also believed to be the historical dates too.
April 6 30 AD is a Thursday and the 15th of Nisan.
April 3, 33 AD is a Friday and the 14th of Nisan.
Only one of those dates can be correct or they can both be wrong. I understand John19:31 to be the evening the night of April 6th which is the beginning of 16th of Nisan the Preparation day.
Many believe John 19:31 to be in the late afternoon before sunset 14th of Nisan in 33AD.

According to Mark 14:12-16 that was the 14th of Nisan.
