    NASB 95 vs. NASB 20:

Which do you prefer? And what is the reasoning behind your stated preference?

I have the 2020 in Logos but have not spent any real time with it.

I prefer NASB 95 because it is the one that I own.

(When using on-line translations, I prefer to compare MANY versions to get more of a “many counselors” view of an important verse or paragraph.)

One of the reasons I like it is because it might be possible to knock The Message off the top 10 list. Who knows? Perhaps it might make the top five in less than a year. That means it could displace the ESV and/or the NKJV.

Well, what little I’ve read of the 2020, I’m not that impressed with it. I love my 1995 and read it ~ 99% of the time. I also like the NIV & ESV, but the 1995 is my preferred choice.

I also own several NASB versions with various "study notes." So far I am pretty evenly split as far as renderings I prefer. I definitely like the elimination of "begotten" as a translation of "Monogenes."

Two revisions were happening simultaneously. The 2020 and the LSB. The 2020 is geared to the more moderate crowd. The LSB is geared to fundamentals. That's not how Lockman will say it, but that's what it boils down to.

I think less is more when it comes to updating translations. I would prefer that we had stuck with the NIV 84 and NASB 95 until it was really necessary to update them.

Prefer the 1977 Nas, and the 1995 Nas, as neither of them went so far into the ole inclusion language express!

He has told you, O man, what is good… NASB 1995

He has told you, a human, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? NASB 2020
