    Faith:
    Seeking Christ
    TO KNOW GOD.

    Jeremiah 22.16
16."Hepled the cause of the afflicted and needy, then it was well. Is not that what it means to know Me?" Declares the Lord.

Christian in their majority think that to know GOD requires attendance of the church, reading the Bible, remember some verse and passages, pray, perform some rituals, and follow doctrines and tradition of the church.

But it really the Lord GOD describes here a little bit different approach to Him. The actual deeds of justice, righteousness, help and support to the cause of the poor and needy according to God's Word, that is to know Him.

Not much else the Lord GOD was asking here from human beings to do, but only a few good things. Of course it should be done in the name of the Lord only, and not in the name of yourself, or in the name of tradition, human morality, or any sort of ideology.

To know GOD it means to know His character and His personality, which consist exactly of these good qualities that the Lord GOD Himself mentioned in the verse 16, and those have the same qualities in their soul, implement them constantly in their lives, such people certainly without any doubt know the Lord their GOD and He knows them as well.

I have arguments about this issue before with some people who are sure that good works no longer necessary, because not by good works people saving themselves but faith and the Sacrifice of Christ only, and because of it good works no longer necessary, which is complete distortion, lie, bending the true Word, and misinterpretation of some statements of Paul, by those who are already assure themselves that they are already "saved."

So basically nothing else left to do for "Christians who already saved" as to wait until GOD will take them to Heaven. Good luck!

But this statement of Jeremiah cannot be ignored. Indeed, to know GOD is not impossible or even difficult, as long as a person do his or her good deeds out of love and praises the Lord for possessing and having such good qualities that the Lord GOD put in their soul.

And just like the Lord GOD glad to do good for humanity, and so those human beings who do good in the name of the Lord also glad and very pleased to do it for the Lord their GOD, because they inherited properties and qualities of His character and personality, and very happy to know that their GOD is the GOD of righteousness, mercy, compassion, understanding, forgiveness, faith, and love.

The only way to know GOD is to do that He said, to live according to His Laws and His Statutes, to do righteousness, justice, and provide help to those who need it, to do good works in the name of the Lord, as Jesus Christ done Himself in the name of His Father.

    Matthew 5.45.48
45."so that you may be children of your Father in Heaven, He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. (Matthew 5.45) (Luke 6.35) (Proverbs of Solomon 29.13).

48.Therefore, you are to be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect."

If a person does not achieve such perfection or at least some of it, how anyone can claim that they are already "saved"?

To know God is to Love God in others, and that’s how He knows us as well.

When I was hungry it was you who gave me something to eat. You were the dude, I’d recognise you anywhere.

That is why the people who were Faith alone and had faith enough to perform many miracles, were condemned by the Lord.

“Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

These dudes were powerhouses of Faith but didn’t have the good works of Love and that’s why the Lord said He never knew them. You know the Lord through acts of Love. The Lord gives through us and receives through us.

That is why it is a lie to say you Love God but hate your neighbour, because you Love God when you Love your neighbour.

Worse still many believers are indifferent to their neighbour, they accepted the grace to believe but not the daily graces to Love, the daily bread from the Father. Their days are littered with missed opportunities to Love and supp with the Lord. We did feast together many times, I know you, each will say to the other.

God gives us opportunities to know Him, Love commune with Him all throughout the day. But his own recognise him not, they do not recognise the time of the Lord’s passing each day.

17So the LORD said to Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.”18Then Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.”19“I will cause all My goodness to pass before you,” the LORD replied, “and I will proclaim My name—the LORD—in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”b20But He added, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”21The LORD continued, “There is a place near Me where you are to stand upon a rock, 22and when My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back; but My face must not be seen.”

It’s only when we look back we recognise the the Lord, those moments of Love are moments of recognition for the Lord and us.

We are only given a daily portion of Love each day, because we do not have the capacity, to receive it all is to Look upon His Face which would kill us.

These moments are not faceless today brothers, every face you meet each day is made in the image and likeness of God. In Love is recognition of the Lord and Lord’s recognition of you.

When is the last time you sold all and gave it to the poor? Or rented a room in a flop house so you could bless your enemies with God's love in giving?

Those works are not ours, those are the works are God’s works done through us. Love from the source of all Love.

This is why certain believers do not recognise the Lord in the grace filled works of the Lord, this is Love, God expressing Himself through us.

The Faith aloners see nothing, blind to even the whole point of the Gospel, Love.

Go then, be those people of great faith that prophecy, cast out demons, and perform many miracles by your faith alone. See how that ends.

Unless you Love you will not be recognised, “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

With all the emphasis on “ Faith alone “ they discarded Love as non essential.

They did built an idol to the pet doctrine of “ Faith alone “ and forgot the God of Love.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.“

The Will of The Father is that you Love.

Faith and the good works of Love.

Here's what's wrong with your position. You trust in your pathetic works to save you. I trust in Christ's perfect righteousness imputed to me. And in appreciation for that, I strive to do the good works the love in my heart drives me to do.

Be very careful that you are not reading something into this one-half of one singular verse that is not there. Please don't make a whole doctrine out of it without acknowledging the context. Try the context of the chapter and quite frankly, the previous one [21] that introduces this teaching.

In this section of the two chapters, verses 13-17, God, through Jeremiah, is talking to:
    • Jehoiakim, king of Judah. Specifially, his sin was living it up large in a large palace he had built by forced labor.
    • He compares Johoiakim to his father, Josiah. He said that Josiah also had plenty, but he was fair in his dealings with people and that this is evidence of knowing God.
Salvation comes first. Works, created for us by God to do, come second - as evidence of salvation.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. (1 John 3:14)

HAVE PASSED!!!! Saved first!!! Then we have the love of God IN us to love other people and treat them that way accordingly.

The way we treat people is EVIDENCE of our salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ. The way we treat people is NOT how we are saved. It is not HOW we know God to begin with.

Our BEST works are as filthy rags says Isaiah in chapter 64. Why? He says our sin makes it that way. We MUST take care of our sin problem first - via the shed blood of Jesus Christ. THEN we can treat other people like God says that Christians should do.

Faith, alone and first. Jesus first and alone,. His blood first and alone. Living the proper and Godly life of a Christian including the Godly treatment of other comes second as evidence of that.

WHO here at the Baptist Board has said that the love of God is non-essential. I am a moderator. Tell me and I will do something about it.

How can faith be an idol? How can good deeds override the blood of Christ and save without him?

    Jeremiah 22.16
16."Helped the cause of the afflicted and needy, then it was well. Is not that what it means to know Me?" Declares the Lord.

Are you suggesting that this passage relates only to Jehoiakim and to Josiah kings of Judah and does not relate to anyone else? So only Jehoiakim has to do good and no one else has to do righteousness, justice, and care for the poor?

I purposely took this single passage out of its context because it relates to all humanity, and if GOD ask Jehoiakim to do good, then the same of course applies and for the rest of his subjects.

GOD addressed here Jehoiakim because he is the king and should give example to the rest of his people, and the people, if they see that their king does good, justice and righteousness, sure many people will follow their king.

Some kings of Judah did good and did justice, and Judah prospered and was safe under their rule.

GOD did not said if you have faith you know Me, but He said: "Helped the cause of the afflicted and needy, then it was well. Is not that what it means to know Me."

These are the words of GOD and not of any prophet, and if GOD said that to do justice and help the poor and the needy as Josiah did, means to know Him, that is the full truth of GOD. Why then anyone has to argue against these words?

Works and faith cannot be separated. If a human being has only one hand, or one leg, or one eye, that person is not complete.

And who can better describe and explain the combination of faith and works than James?

    James 2.14-18. 20-22.24-26
14."What use is it my brethren, if a man says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him?"

15.If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,

16.and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled", and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is what?

17.Even so faith, if it has no works is dead by itself.

18.But someone may well say, "You have faith, and I have works, show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works."

20.But are you willing to recognize you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?

21.Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?

22.You see, that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfect,

24.You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

26.Just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

GOD will judge people not only according to their faith, but also according to their works, because everybody will received his or her judgment according to their own deeds.

    You wrote:

I think these statements taken out of its context. Salvation cannot come first to those who ignored it and to those who do not deserved. Salvation is the result of Faith, Works, Mercy, Compassion, and Love, it is not given for nothing.

Yes, those who obeying the Lord and live according to His Commandments and Statutes, such people passed from death to life.
But those who have GOD only on their lips but do not follow His Ordinances, I do not think that they will pass from death to life, as it written, many goes through wide gate, but only few go through the narrow gate, which leads to the Kingdom of GOD.

Thank you for clarifying your position, I understand you know. You are asserting here that salvation MUST be "deserved" as you said or earned. We have to be "good" to be saved. You say it is a result of many things including "works". And that it "isn't given for nothing."

I won't give you my opinion, but here is what scripture says about salvation by works and "deserving" it.
    • Titus 3:5 = "...he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit..He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit...."
This is CLEAR: NO works of righteousnesss can save a person , ONLY the washing of rebirth.

    • Romans 5:8-10 = "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! "
This is CLEAR: When I was saved decades ago, I WAS A "SINNER" and God's "ENEMY". God "reconciled" me TO him through the death of his Son - WITHOUT my help.

    • Romans 3:20 = "For no human being will be justified in his sight by works of the law, since through the law comes knowledge of sin."
This is CLEAR: No human being can work his way into "deserving" salvation.

    • Ephesians 2:8-9 = "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God NOT by works, so that no one can boast."
This is CLEAR: Salvation is by grace. Grace in Koine Greek is χάρις [khar'-ece]. It mean's God's merciful "favor". You cannot EARN this. Why because outside of it - we are "enemies" of God. God saves evil people all the time: liars, gossipers, child molestors, rapists, murderers, drug addicts, porn addicts, lovers of money, lovers of self. God SAVES without OUR help or assistance.

The Bible says that all kinds of people are going to do all kinds of "good" things and still burst hell wide open. They will boast of their works to Christ and he is going to say, "Sorry, I never knew you. Get away from me." Matthew 7:21-23

So you are wrong. Savlation IS given for NOTHING. It is a free gift. It costs us nothing. It costs Jesus Christ everything!!!

And after we are saved and repent and turn from our wicked ways - THEN comes the good works that God has prepared for us. If saved people don't love God and love others and obey the will of God and do the works of God - then odds are, they were never saved in the first place.

And people who never gave their lives to Christ and submitted to God in repentance, yet do all kinds of good things, AREN'T saved.

Keep in mind this stuff is written AFTER the resurrection/ ascension.

    2 John 1

4I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have received a commandment to do from the Father. 5Now I ask you, lady, not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you are to walk in it.

7For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. 9Anyone who goes too far and does not remain in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; 11for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

Not a lick about faith alone, or cross your fingers and hope you are elect.

10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; 11for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

What teaching? faith alone? Chosen elect? NOPE.....----->the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.

    9Anyone who goes too far and does not remain in the teaching of Christ, does not have God;

The battle is always right there. ---> WHAT JESUS TAUGHT versus what PEOPLE teach ABOUT Jesus.

Those against Jesus will do what they can to diminish and toss aside what he taught.

    1 john 4

8The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Good works is Love, this what I mean about Protestants sneering at Love like it’s not important, calling it “ pathetic works “.

The Catholic position is Faith and Love together is essential for Salvation.

You could have a huge Faith to move mountains, prophecy, cast out demons, and perform many miracles, but if you don’t have good works of Love The Lord will not recognise you. “ I never knew you “

    True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Lord recognises you by your Love, because He is Love.

Many believers walk by the suffering every day in their lives and don’t show Love, they are not praying for Love from the source each day to Love as Christ Loves.
“ I new commandment I give you, that you Love one another as I have Loved you “. Do you Love others as Christ Loved?

Great, you received Faith to believe in Christ by grace. Now pray for the grace to Love as Jesus Loved, you can not Love as He Loved without the daily Grace, the daily bread from the Father.

No one that I know sneers at love.

We just don't believe that there are enough works to do to undo our sin nature. Only Jesus, and faith in him, can do that. Works, while VITAL, come after salvation.

ONLY Jesus Christ can save. We CANNOT save ourselves with good deeds. IF we COULD - then Jesus is absolutely unnecessary.

To claim that works save you from your sins is claiming that your actions are more powerful that Christ's atonement.

The good works you do by Grace are Christ’s works not your works.

This is why I warn Protestants not to dismiss Jesus works through us as “ pathetic works “ it’s Jesus Loving others through us.

“ It is no longer I that lives, but Christ who lives in me “ or don’t you guys even believe this as well.

You know when you are very tired and a person calls you great suffering and is possibly suicidal, by Grace Jesus stirs in you and speaks to them and Loves them, talking to them for hours. Many believers ignore that stirring of Grace and say they have got to go.

I remember being really tired one morning in the jungle mountains of New Guinea after working 16 to 18 hours a day, it was my turn to go to the clinic to help. I remember praying and saying, just make it an easy day with no horror this time.
Well the first case that showed up was a woman with little bundle of rags in her arms. She placed it on the table and I opened it up. It was worst case of foot to head scabies I had ever seen, a little baby boy. But when my eyes met his eyes that seemed so miserable and ashamed of his condition, it was like our two miseries met. It was Jesus Love that burst out of me with such power and compassion that I was renewed and strengthened for weeks on incredible heights.
That is the power Christ operating when we a burnt out, one moment of Love.

We only bring handful of loaves and fish, but by Love Christ turns it into a feast for a multitude.

But you make LOVE a phony work. For me, it's a loving heart God produced in the New Birth. So it's what I do along with breathing and other natural dispositions.

“And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.” Deuteronomy 30:6 (KJV 1900)

Love isn’t natural works with natural disposition, it is supernatural and not your works.

You sneer at the Love Christ does through others calling it “ pathetic works “ and maliciously judge and condemn others as unsaved. Scripture says you will be judged as you have judged, but what do you care, you hold that you are “justified “ right.

You are hostile to Love and I do not recognise Jesus in your words.

“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.“

We are born again through faith by free gift of grace, that’s what I’ve told you but you haven’t listened.

Many received the gift of Faith to believe, but ignore the daily graces to Love, they have no Love and have become hard of heart.
They don’t even realise that they have grown cold of heart, they do not Love others as Christ does.

Receive the daily graces to Love as you first received the grace of Faith to believe.

You have it exactly backward. The new birth happens in the elect before they can believe in Christ. It creates His presence in their hearts causing them to believe. Based on that experience.
