I was recently asked this question in a discussion I was having with another person:

“so the 506 million Buddhists in the world aren't going to your heaven? The 2 billion Muslims are wrong because they don't believe the same things you do?”

    This was my answer.

    Thank you for the question.

    Correct.
And may I add not only those who you mentioned, but MANY that claim to be Christian will not be in heaven. It is a VERY narrow way and few will find it.

What you are not understanding, or perhaps not accepting, is that God decides how we get to heaven. He has provided One way. We either accept that Way or we spend eternity in hell regardless how sincere we may be in any religion or no religion.

If man decides how we get to heaven then God is no longer God. It is man that has to repent towards God accepting His way, NOT God repenting towards man accepting man’s way.

Eph. 4: 4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

    John 14:6
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

There is only a few in comparison to all that have and will be born that will go to heaven. Most the world will end up in hell because they refuse to do it God’s way. It is part of man’s rebellion against God’s authority. The one thing that man really hates is to think he/she has to totally surrender to anyone and especially to God. Many are willing to change some, but to really surrender/repent only a few will.

We either come to the point where we are broken over our sin and rebellion and want to get right with God no matter what it will cost us, which is repentance toward God, and then put that heart on His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, which is faith, or we try other ways, our way, and end up in hell for all eternity.

Salvation is a gift to all that come to repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Eph. 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Mathew 7: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7: 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    Choose the narrow way.

I don't see any mention of heaven or hell in the passage, could it be you're reading it into it?

He's talking to Jews you know. Jews whose sudden destruction of their commonwealth was only about 40 years away, a destruction that only 'a remnant' of Jews were saved from.

That is why so many that claim to be Christians really are not.
