    Chapter 6
    - Of the Fall of Man, of Sin, and of the Punishment Thereof

    1. Although God created man upright and perfect, and gave him a righteous law, which had been unto life had he kept it, and threatened death upon the breach thereof,(Genesis 2:16-17) yet he did not long abide in this honour; Satan using the subtlety of the serpent to subdue Eve, then by her seducing Adam, who, without any compulsion, did willlfully transgress the law of their creation, and the command given unto them, in eating the forbidden fruit,(Genesis 3:12-13; 2 Corinthians 11:3) which God was pleased, according to His wise and holy counsel to permit, having purposed to order it to His own glory.
    2. Our first parents, by this sin, fell from their original righteousness and communion with God, and we in them whereby death came upon all;(Romans 3:23) all becoming dead in sin,(Romans 5:12-21) and wholly defiled in all the faculties and parts of soul and body.(Titus 1:15; Genesis 6:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-19)
    3. They being the root, and by God's appointment, standing in the room and stead of all mankind, the guilt of the sin was imputed, and corrupted nature conveyed, to all their posterity descending from them by ordinary generation,(Romans 5:12-19; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22,45,49) being now conceived in sin,(Psalms 51:5; Job 14:4) and by nature children of wrath,(Ephesians 2:3) the servants of sin, the subjects of death,(Romans 6:20; Romans 5:12) and all other miseries, spiritual, temporal, an eternal, unless the Lord Jesus set them free.(Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 Thessalonians 1:10)
    4. From this original corruption, whereby we are utterly indisposed, disabled, and made opposite to all good, and wholly inclined to all evil;(Romans 8:7; Colossians 1:21) do proceed all actual transgressions.(James 1:14-15; Matthew 15:19)
    5. The corruption of nature, during this life, doth remain in those that are regenerated;(Romans 7:18,23; Ecclesiastes 7:20; 1 John 1:8) and although it be through Christ pardoned and mortified, yet both itself, and the first motions thereof, are truly and properly sin.(Romans 7:23-25; Galatians 5:17)

I have not problem with that verse. Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith but He does not give us faith. You have to read that into the text and ignore the rest of scripture for it to work for your theology.

God hath decreed in himself, from all eternity, by the most wise and holy counsel of
His own will, freely and unchangeably, all things, whatsoever comes to pass;1 yet so as thereby is God neither the author of sin nor hath fellowship with any therein
Does not all things mean all things in your language
    CHAPTER 3; OF GOD’S DECREE

    Paragraph 1

God hath decreed in himself, from all eternity, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely and unchangeably, all things, whatsoever comes to pass;1 yet so as thereby is God neither the author of sin nor hath fellowship with any therein;2 nor is violence offered to the will of the creature

If God decrees all things does that in your mind only mean some things. We have a contradiction.

Paragraph 3. By the decree of God, for the manifestation of His glory, some men and angels are predestinated, or foreordained to eternal life through Jesus Christ,7 to the praise of His glorious grace;8 others being left to act in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of His glorious justice.

But if God has decreed all things then to say that people can act in their own sin is a contradiction.

Paragraph 4. These angels and men thus predestinated and foreordained, are particularly and unchangeably designed, and their number so certain and definite, that it cannot be either increased or diminished.

Actually the whole of Chapter disagrees with the bible but you do not see that.

If you want to hold to this document then do so but do not expect others to follow along just because you do.

In all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 2:2; Ephesians 5:17; Philippians 1:9; 1 Corinthians 14:20). Wisdom, in its highest sense, is the sum of personal excellence as belonging to the mind; it implies a vital knowledge of Divine truth, forming the sentiments and determining the will as it possesses the reason, Hence the word occurs in a great variety of connections: Wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3), "and prudence" (Ephesians 1:8), etc.

How do you come to that conclusion. Did I say everyone had faith in Christ, NO did I say that those that trust in Christ will be saved by God, YES. I have no disagreement with the scriptures you pointed to and they fit with what I have said many times. The one they disagree with is the ones that hold your theology.

So you think that the scripture ref's will save your errant theology. Contradictory text can not be fixed by an appeal to scripture. You wish it could I am sure but sorry it does not help you.

I agree, and that is why we must trust what the scriptures say and not put our trust in man-made philosophy.

    Don't stop there
Eph 2:1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
Eph 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

What you overlook is that the man who is “dead in trespasses and in sins” is nevertheless a rational spiritual being who is personally accountable for his life and his sins and who, except he repent, must answer before God in solemn judgment.

Some people reference Eph_2:1 as you did,of us being dead G3498 in our sin but if you look at 1Co_1:21 you see that God has a solution. For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save G4982 those who believe. G4100

    Paul told us:
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,
    And why are they saved?
Eph 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
    So we see
Rom 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."
And how and why are we saved
    Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
Eph 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Scripture is clear, you just have to trust it. Now I know some will say I took the verses out of context, OK then show me where the context does not agree with what I posted.

    But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; --- Forasmuch then as the children [of the man of V 6] are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; < Where was the devil at the end of chapter 1 of Genesis? Wherever, the devil, was at the end of chapter 1 of Genesis; Did he have the power of, the death?

At the end of chapter 1 of Genesis; Did God have a plan of how he was going to destroy, the devil, who had the power of, the death?

At the end of Chapter 1 of Genesis the creation is complete and God is about to enter into His rest, God is about to establish the Sabbath, the day of rest.

    What was that plan?

The Son of God has been born of woman, died and was dead for three days and three nights and is the first born out of the dead and still; Hebrews 4:9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; -----

For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, [free, or otherwise?] but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope Rom 8:20

For in [to] hope were we saved: but hope that is seen is not hope: for who hopeth for that which he seeth? But if we hope for that which we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Romans 8:24,25

Question Is hope relative to entering into His rest? What about verses 19, 21,23 of Romans 8 Compare to Luke 20:34-36 N\KJV

How does the above relate to all of you all's posts if at all?

I wonder if this little article might be helpful. Chris Rees is not a "famous Christian" but he is a faithful Pastor to his flock in rural West Wales.

How Sore a Plague is Sin
    By Chris Rees
The doctrine of Scripture that is the most offensive and unpleasant for the natural man to accept is the teaching concerning humanity's fall. Learning about the extent, depth and consequence of the fall can be the most depressing of realities. It brought death to all men and made all children of wrath, leaving them unable to change their state. Yet, it can be one of the most helpful for the regenerate to grasp. When properly understood, it assures the believer of salvation and furnishes practical application for the Christian life.

No other teaching accurately explains the world we live in and the personal experience of the human heart. Contrary to modern thought, humanity is not on the rise in the process of evolution. Instead, it is fallen from the place of life to death. 'God made man upright, but he [i.e. man] has sought out many schemes' (Ecclesiastes 7:29).

God placed humanity in the garden of Eden with a command not to eat of the tree of good and evil, declaring, 'for in that day that you shall eat it you shall surely die' (Genesis 2:17). On the day when Adam's sinned and broke God's law by taking and eating the forbidden fruit, our first parents fell from their original righteousness and communion with God. Thus, death entered the world and thus spread to all men.

There are many objections against the biblical doctrine of the fall, but two especially are raised. The first objection is to the Biblical teaching of the total depravity of the human soul due to the fall. Not only does sin spread to all, but it also defiles every faculty of the body and soul. Therefore, the whole of a person: heart, mind, will and conscience, has been damaged to such an extent that no one can come to God in their own strength.

The natural man cannot accept this because he will not believe what God says is true. Humanity's natural disposition is against God and his word. His mind is darkened because his deeds are evil. He prefers to choose his own way, thinking that man's wisdom is sufficient. Thus, he defiles his conscience by thinking and acting against his created purpose to glorify God. The second objection is to the Biblical teaching that Adam is the federal head of the human race. The natural man refuses to accept that Adam's sin is imputed to all humanity, and because of what he did, all die. Thus, the natural man denies reality and lives a lie, for he cannot deny that evil and death exist. Indeed, he cannot deny his insatiable desire to rebel against God and that the bloody murder and sacrifice of Jesus Christ were necessary to redeem his fallen humanity. He refuses to believe that he requires the deliverance from an eternal death that he earned and deserves.

This imputation would be bad news if not for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although the imputation of Adam's sin to all seems unfair, the gospel's message is that many are made righteous through one man's act. 'For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous' (Romans 5:19). Therefore, the biblical understanding of the fall is vital for comprehending the blessed free grace of salvation.

The teaching of original sin should not be neglected. It lies at the foundation for why we need God's salvation. The neglect of this teaching can bring the Christian deep disappointment and frustration, failing to realise how deep sin has shaped and affected us as human beings. Sin reigns in the hearts of the unregenerate person but also remains in those who have become Christians. Thus, we should not be shocked or surprised by our failings. Sin is powerful and still present in the Christian experience. However, the believer is pardoned in Christ.

Consequently, sin continues to be mortified by the power of the Holy Spirit. Believers must recognise that sin has been dealt a death blow in the death of Jesus Christ. It no longer has dominion over them. A new principle of life now reigns in every believer. Though Christians may fail to live according to God's law, they can rest in Christ's finished work and find strength through the Holy Spirit's power to put the body's unholy deeds to death. Their ultimate victory over sin is as sure as the fall itself.

How sore a plague is sin, to those by whom 'tis felt!

The Christian cries, Unclean! Unclean! E'en though released from guilt.

    I'll bear the unequal strife, and wage the war within;

Since death, that puts an end to life, shall put an end to Sin.

    Joseph Hart

No problem with answering the question. I just hoped that you were smart enough to figure it out on your own but it looks like your not.Not trying to be offensive but this question has been asked and answered many many times and it just does not seem to sink in for some people.

So here is the answer, try to remember it for future reference, FREE WILL.

I found this on the net and thought it answers you quite well.
In terms of why one person chooses one way, while another person chooses another way, why do you believe that Adam & Eve (two perfectly sinless creatures) choose to misuse their freedom and fall? Why did the woman first choose to disobey, and then her husband second? They did not have total depravity. So how do you account for their free choices, apart from the same type of free-will that Arminians espouse?

    Hope that helps.
