Purely emotional post. Let your rage carry on
Emotional? Not at all.
I understand exactly where you are in terms of doctrine. I was there for most of my life. I am not angry at you for stating your belief, one I shared for so long.
Don't be so sensitive, Mitch. Nobody is mad at you.
I would not be able to convince myself, when I was you, that most of Christianity was right about the "classic view" so I am certainly not trying to convince you. Before you can read Scripture for what is written (and it make sense) you will have to let go of your philosophy. I only hope one day you will be able to, especially since you have already shown you are unable to defend it.
What I observed is that you are very dishonest in your argument. To you anybody who disagrees with your philosophy and interpretations are rebelling against Scripture. That is what sets us apart.
Many (I believe most) who affirm the Penal Substitution Theory of Atonement are honest men. They understand that Christians who disagree with their interpretation are not rebelling against Scripture but instead are trying to be faithful.
You are simply not one of those men.
I am just saying that you should be honest in your arguments. You elevate your understanding to the level of Scripture and condemn anybody who rejects your words as if they were rejecting God's Word. You set yourself above God. That is wrong.
