In the Obit

Reading an obit and it stated in part:

"she invited Christ into her heart through her everyday deeds and actions"

Thoughts?

The first issue is the teaching. Which does have a Biblical base of a sort.

Galatians 4:6, ". . . And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. . . ." Which is what God does.

Ephesians 3:17, ". . . That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, . . ."
Or through faith.

Faith being the prerequisite. And is what God does. We do not cause it.

As if we can cause it by our works.

Someone wrote the obit to focus on her good deeds. They probably didn’t have a good understanding of theology. That doesn’t necessarily mean she believed the same thing.

I wouldn’t read too much into it.

The one that wrote it didn't understand Sovereign Grace as those who think they will be wearing a crown but as a song leader for many years, the emphasis in not on us but on Jesus Christ, and my thoughts are according to the stanza of the following song... Must Jesus Bear The Cross Alone?... We are bound to glory to glorify him in eternity not each other... Brother Glen

The one that wrote it didn't understand ...

This, of course, is possible. But it is also possible that we are reading a literal context into those words that may not be authentic to their composition.

Take, for example, the words "invite Jesus into your heart". Many (probably most) who use that phrase have in mind repentance. But many (probably most) who object to that phrase have in mind the idea of allowing God to act.

My complaint with the orbit is that it lacks the which, assuming the intent of theological revelation, is necessary.
