"Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" (Matthew 12.46-50) (Mark 3.20-21.31-35) (Luke 8.19-21).

Jesus Christ openly and publicly denied His physical family.

So, what the family He actually has? Who His mother and brothers and sisters?

He Himself gave answer to this question and said:

    Matthew 12.49-50
    49. "And stretching out His hand toward His disciples He said, 'My mother and My brothers!

    50. Whoever does the will of My Father Who is in Heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother."

So according to Christ, the true Christians who do the will of His Father (obeying and living according to His Statutes and Commandments) are His spiritual family, and it seems that to His physical family He does not gave much of importance.

Because traditionally Christians sometimes refer to one another as brother and sister, are we all belonging to the spiritual family of Christ?

To answer this question, I think we must answer another question. Are all the so-called Christians doing the will of Christ and His Father?

Is it enough to call someone as brother and sister just because they believe in Christ?

Many people believe in Christ or said so, but do they the will of the Lord as Jesus mentioned in His Statement above?

    James wrote:

    James 2.19
19.You believe that GOD is One, you do well, the demons also believe and shudder.

~ "Demons know Who is Jesus Christ and afraid" (Matthew 8.29) (Mark 1.34) (Luke 4.41) (James 2.19).

So, if demons also believe and better to say know very well Who is Christ, are they also our brother and sisters?

Does the believing in Christ alone enough to be a true Christian and to be a member in His spiritual family?

And again, returning back to the Statement of Christ He specified that only those who do the will of His Father, they are His family, His mothers, His brothers, and His sisters.

We have today many different denominations, sects, groups, believes, and faiths. Which is of them is Christ's true spiritual family?

No you are not seeing it.

Mary is the highest example of creatures doing the Will of The Father.

“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”

Mary was most obedient, the first to obey. She was the first Christian. She was so Christian, Christ formed in her womb from her flesh.

Mary is the Highest shining example for people of doing The Fathers Will.

No, Alex2165 sees quite clearly and has asked a very relevant question.

You have excluded the righteous Old Testament saints testified of in Hebrews 11:37 which says "They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented." They did this for their love of Christ and the hope of the kingdom. Christ tells us in John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down of life for his friends (as brethren). Christ spoke not only of himself having such great love but also those who would suffer for his righteousness and kingdom sake or the edifying of the body of Christ.

They would be included with those spoken of in Matt 13:23 that brought forth an hundred fold. I do not know how one bring forth more than an hundred fold fruit by the Spirit, not even Mary. Do you?

Scripture that she was the first Christian?

And she was NOT a Christian when Christ was formed in her womb!

No you’re right it doesn’t sound adequate.

Being the mother of Christ would make her the mother of Christianity.

    The Bible is clear.
You have God, the Father; God the Son (the firstborn); and all the adopted children of God, found in Christ Jesus.

This is Jesus family. Mary, Joseph, and all of us who believe, are adopted children of God.

    *Ephesians 1:3-14*
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

You must be a dedicated Catholic Cathode.

Catholic worship Christ's mother and not the Christ Himself.

Mary is not the image of GOD, as a woman she is the image of man Adam, but Christ is the living Image of GOD and He is the direct Son of GOD.

Not the Mary died on the cross and brought salvation to the world, but Christ did.

Of course, Mary is the greatest mother of all mothers on Earth, but she is not goddess, she is a human being.

If Catholics think she is holy, it is OK, I think she deserve to be holy because she gave birth to Christ, but she should not be worshipped, this is paganism and idol-worship abomination.

By the way, where this statement is coming from you wrote?

" “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”

Can you specify the source, because I do not remember see it in the Bible.

    You also wrote:

" Mary is the Highest shining example for people of doing The Fathers Will."

Can you indicate what she actually done and became Highest shining example beside giving birth to Christ which is not much as her initiative by of GOD?

For Catholics, Mary is Our Queen, because in the Davidic line the Mother of the King, was Queen.
Jesus being King makes Mary the Queen.

So we treat her as royalty.

Mary for us is the Ark of The New Covenant, the porthole between the created and Uncreated worlds.

The Ark of the Old Covenant was a prefigurement of Mary, it was overshadowed by the Shekinah Glory, and God dwelt with His People, Mary was overshadowed by The Holy Spirit, and God dwelt with His People. Jesus, God with us.

The Ark of the Covenant was the Throne of God, the Mercy Seat atop of it, Jesus is the Mercy of The Father, The Father of Mercy.
Jesus came from the Uncreated Eternal realm into the fallen created world to dwell with and save His People.
The Ark was marked by angels, Mary’s life was marked by Angels from the Annunciation and Incarnation of Jesus to the tomb after the Resurrection.

At the great sacrifice for atonement for all Israel, the High Priest sprinkled the blood of the sacrifice on and before the Ark of the Covenant.
At the great sacrifice for the forgiveness of the whole world, Christ The High Priest sprinkled His Blood on and before Mary at the foot of the Cross.

Mary would be the first to tell us that she is just a lowly creature and peasant woman.
But Mary filled by The Holy Spirit said. “ He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.“

It pleases God to use the most lowly and weak, to confound the proud and mighty.

All generations of Catholics consider her most blessed of all creatures.

Mary’s inspired words are part of Holy Scripture for us to ponder in our hearts.

But The Word of God Himself was delivered to us through Mary. Jesus.

Sorry Salty, I didn’t see your post before posting. I don’t want to disturb people, it’s one of those sensitive areas on both sides.

This isn’t a game dude. It’s peoples heart felt convictions from Scripture that we all love.
There’s a terrible sadness in Jesus prayer to Father, that we be one as Jesus and the Father are one.
The Baptist’s were the last to leave the fight outside the butcher clinics and the first to return with new vigour, God bless them.
There is a war on against hell, and we have to stand together for Jesus lest the lines be shattered and worse travesties come.

We have to stand with our King. We take our orders from the Commander of the Lord's Army, which is Jesus. Everything that God has ordained will happen, "at the appointed time" (see Daniel 11). Until then, we Hold the Fort.

    1. Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

    Refrain:
    “Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”

    2. See the mighty host advancing, Satan leading on,
Mighty ones around us falling, courage almost gone!

    3. See the glorious banner waving, Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s Name we triumph over every foe.

    4. Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near,
Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades, cheer!
