God is not a mere bystander, hoping that someone will "choose" correctly.
In His Great Love and humility, God reduced Himself to not only be a bystander, but a beggar holding out His hand for His Son. The Father is always looking for the return of His Son.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.“
The Father does not wait for the return of His robot, but anxiously waits for the return of His flesh and blood Son, flesh of His flesh, His image and likeness, His Son.
The Father recognises the Son even from a long way off, He watches and waits for His errant Son with great love. He has servants waiting to put robe, ring and sandals on His Son.
We must think the better of it, and decide to return to the Fathers House. A Robot would be happy feeding pigs in a sty, in a far off land, but a Son of The Father would not.
When you call on The Father, you are claiming Sonship.
A robot returns because it is programmed to. A Son returns because he loves his Father.
