    Saturday is the Sabbath.
    The day before the Sabbath is Friday.
    Thus Friday starts on Thursday evening about sundown.
    Therefore Mark 15:42 teaches that Friday (preparation day) started after evening had already come on Thursday.

    And the Sabbath begins in our Friday evening. And ends in our Saturday evening at its sunset.

    And it came to pass, on the second-first sabbath, as he is going through the corn fields, that his disciples were plucking the ears, and were eating, rubbing with the hands, Luke 6:1

    What is that speaking of ? Any relevance to the crucifixion week?

    Has little or nothing to do with Mark 15:42. Otherwise it is an excellent question. There is division over what the answer should be regarding Luke 6:1, on the term used regarding that Sabbath.

    Our named days of the week are from midnight to midnight. The Jewish days of the week begin at sundown.
