Oh yeah, Brother Glen, back to the kingdom;

I consider this book a modern classic.

He does such a good job on so many areas of Eschatology, I read it four times by just checking it out of the library (and writing into it scripture corrections, etc.) before I could afford it.

Here is the whole thing, by permission, in .pdf!!!
https://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/sdg/davis/The High King of Heaven - Dean Davis.pdf

This way you can get the links to this contents page, below the introduction, and just bounce around to different subjects he covers if you want.

These audios of it have always been a blessing to me, too: (from his "Eschatological Laboratory") High King of Heaven Seminar: 5 Part MP3 Seminar

This is his introduction:

"For the last 150 years the evangelical world has been embroiled in a Great Debate about eschatology, about the true biblical picture of God's ultimate purpose for the universe, life, and man.

"Much of the debate swirls around the Kingdom of God: What is its true nature?

"In how many stages does it enter history?

"How shall we interpret the Old Testament prophecies of the Kingdom-literally (in terms of Israel) or figuratively (in terms of the Church*)?

"There is also controversy about the Consummation: Will our world get better and better, or worse and worse?

"Will Christ return once, twice, or even three times?

"When He does return, will it be before the millennium or after?

"How many resurrections should we expect?

"How many judgments?

"What will the universe be like when God finally creates the new heavens and the new earth?

"This book was written in the conviction that the High King of heaven has given his people certain master keys by which they may know the answers to these questions, and so be fully prepared for the awesome consummation of all things.

"In it, pastor and author Dean Davis seeks to place those keys in our hands, so that we may behold afresh the simplicity and glory of our Blessed Hope, and thereby resolve, once and for all, the Great End Time Debate."

*I take the fish and leave the bones, so just to remind you that I don't see it in the Bible, he sees a universal 'church' of some sort in the Bible, along with many others in recent history (since, there emerged a new theory of the 'church' - the UNIVERSAL, INVISIBLE SPIRITUAL THEORY, born of the Reformation movement; - WHY AND WHEN THE THEORY STARTED.)

Thanks for that Allan... But that reminds me of a story, thru the grapevine a new farmer moved into the area and word got around that he had live stock... So another farmer being neighborly decided to help out, so he got some other famers together and they loaded up a truck with over 30 bales of hay, drove up to his farm and knocked on the door... The farmer came to the door and said what's this?... The other farmer said we came to feed your live stock... The surprised farmer with a puzzled look on his face said... What live stock?... I only have one cow!

Alan I'm not a prolific reader as some... 817 pages:eek::eek:... And a seminar to boot:eek:... And more... I may browse through it given the time... I'm 77 and time is running out... Just so you know!... Brother Glen:)

"All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male." Exodus 34:19.

Some of these guys aim at being super real nice in the way they handle their view on The End Times, when referring to and giving a critique of those that would be in opposition to them.

That is commendable.

They regard people who consider the Bible as God's Word to be treated with kid gloves, so as to not be too offensive, since the pool of those who don't even consider the Bible God's Word is already sooo large.

I believe they have a position from which to convincingly say, 'prove it up', etc., in so many instances where it seems some schemes of The End Times are comparatively light and insubstantial, upon close observation.

Me, I just say, 'Here, stick this 817-page book in your pipe and smoke it'..... I guess. My bad.

That is certainly true the LORD does have multitude of children ( I'm not being selfish) but the only one your concerned with is you... Brother Glen:)

There are actually two things that the Bible tells us God cannot do.
He cannot lie (Titus 1:2) and He cannot deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13).
To abandon His sovereignty somehow would seem to me to be lying to His creation and also denying Himself.

I agree, but I find that a number on here do not actually believe that God is sovereign. They strangely say that God is absolutely totally sovereign and then deny His sovereignty by saying He could not allow man to have a true free will. Strange logic but there it is.

I agree God is Sovereign and man does have free-will but as far as man ever going to be with God THAT WILL has been given to another, if not then, what the Apostle Paul said is wrong... Brother Glen:)

Galatians 2: 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

God's logic but there it is!
