"In 2020, Barichivich and Lara extracted a sample from the Great Grandfather using the most extended manual drill, but it did not reach the center. They estimated that their sample was 2,400 years old and used a predictive model to calculate the full age of the tree. Barichivich said, "80% of the possible trajectories show the tree would be 5,000 years old."

Two points...one is that no one has measured the rings of this tree apparently. So claims that it might be older and have more rings than the bristle cone pine would be speculation.
Also, we know trees used to grow fast, unlike today according to the bible, so that tree rings cannot be used to date because they are based on how trees grow in this present day.

My understanding is the “rings” of a tree are produced seasonally. The actual growth would depend on rainfall during a particular season.
I recently read an article that the violin maker “Strativerious” (sp) used trees from a time of little rainfall, and which caused the rings in the wood to be much close together and produced the better quality sound.

One ring per year is the norm, but in rare occasions severe drought results in the ring being invisible to the naked eye. Also, despite the cumulative effect of the curse, tree growth is often increasing in recent years due to higher concentration of carbon dioxide.
I once read that Stradivari built violins using wood that had been under water in the Mediterranean for decades, with the absorbed minerals making for the incredible tone. We'll likely never know for sure.
