Here's the quote (I'm taking your word for it):

This flies in the face of both Total Depravity and Irresistible Grace, two of the five basic fundamental tenets of Calvinism.

FYI, Christ has been 'saving' unbelieving, impenitent sinners since creation.

...makes me cringe...
Alas! :(

People aren’t saved from eternity. We were once the children of wrath. People don’t wake up and realize they’re elect or “already saved” (they aren’t). What they are realizing is the Spirit of God is calling them to repent and believe on, trust in, surrender to, the Lordship of the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
And how does a baby who dies in childbirth do that exactly?

"kyredneck,

The Southern Baptist Church I grew up in placed the burden of other's eternal destiny on the backs of the flock, i.e., slacking soul winners will be responsible for people in hell.
Hello KYRED,
I know what you are describing is also error. They are urging people to go out and proclaim a form of the gospel. They go out of bounds by suggesting it all depends on them and if someone perishes, it was their fault. I have heard well meaning novices preach these ideas.
The truth is more central than either extreme. God saves sinners. He uses means to do so. The work of the Spirit is direct and unstoppable.
Jesus has promised to seek and save that which is Lost.
Only His sheep are lost. He will find all of them through whatever means necessary. Preaching and teaching are main avenues of grace as Romans 10 illustrates. He will not lose one. he is not willing that any should perish.2 pet.3:9-16

It gets tricky.

If we are an obstacle for another then we are judged for that. If we do not share the gospel we are judged for that.

And both Paul and Peter speak of Christians winning souls.

Sometimes people take that out of context (as your old church may have). But at the same time some ignore sharing the gospel completely.

The Catholic school I grew up in sited it is the responsibly of the creature to progress thru a litany of sacraments and traditions to get into heaven… talk about doing it yourself!

Next if you miss the mark you get put in purgatory where your family and friends have to buy you out via buying you out via masses for your soul in purgatory… children go to a place called Limbo . Talk about convoluted!!!

God told us to be witnesses to all the earth.

How He takes care of babies is His business, not ours. "He does all things well."
I do believe it's through Christ, however. Deuteronomy 29:29.

Here is the thing, how do you know if they are elect or not elect… in truth, they may be all elect therefore they are all subject to heaven, not hell. I put it in His hands to show mercy.
I believe you will see your child again. The reason I don't think you should go there is there is no reason to cause yourself extra pain listening to others pontificate on the subject. My daughter in law has still not recovered from what some people at church said to her when she grieved too much to suit them over a miscarriage. You seem to have this figured out and I bet most on here agree with your assessment. I know I do.

I’m comforted by this…

I agree... Seem that some on here worship a tyrant... ITS IN GODS HANDS... I never worry who will be saved because?... ITS IN GODS HANDS... Can I show someone a better way of life?... Not eternal!... ITS IN GODS HANDS... None on here can determine the eternity of another, though some try... ITS IN GODS HANDS... A loving God, a forgiving God one that makes up the family of God... Our Salvation has nothing to do with doctrine, no matter what we believe... ITS IN GODS HANDS... Doctrine didn't save you Divinity did!... His name is JESUS CHRIST... ITS IN GODS HANDS... A Merciful God... That few on here know... I sure don't want eternal Salvation in my hands... I'm not in the Salvation business... Are any of you?... Brother Glen:)

Romans 11: 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

And of those on here that believe in election, let me show you by scripture true election!

Revelation 7: 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

One thing I do know with all the isums and schisms, we won't be arguing in Heaven!... Brother Glen:)

Amen, Dave. The devil would like to put babies in hell. Not God.

People get bent out of shape because God commanded Israel to kill the pagan nations, because their cup of iniquity was full, not realizing what a mercy it was for the babies who would have grown up to be lost pagans, also.

What is it about Christians not wanting to trust God with their babies and youths who have died? I have all faith in God that "of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." They're there, waiting on you. Don't disappoint them. Trust Christ as your Lord and Saviour today, whoever reads this.
