The issue is the same as any political party that isn’t Democrat or Republican: it’s a third party. Our government is set up as a two-party system, so it’s nearly impossible for any third party to do anything except help get people elected we’d rather not see in office. I’d love to see several viable alternatives to the D’s and R’s, but we’re a two-party system in the US. In order for third parties to make a change to the status quo, you’ll be waiting for fifty years or more. It is what it is.

The framers of the U.S. Constitution set up the federal government as a no party system. George Washington, in his Farewell Address, sternly warned Americans against dividing up into parties. The checks and balances were to be between the three branches of the government, not political parties. Unfortunately, the United States now has political parties that are more compatible with a parliamentary system, than with the system that the framers developed.

The American Solidarity Party seems to mainly appeal to Catholics and Catholic social teaching:

"If they manage to hear about it, many Americans might be attracted to the party’s message, especially Catholics. Vogl emphasizes that the ASP is “not trying to be the Catholic party.” Still, it’s no secret that the party’s values are infused with Catholic social teaching.

Matthew Walther recently argued that American Catholics are politically homeless. “It is impossible,” he wrote, “to reconcile Catholic orthodoxy — the immortal teachings of the church that have not changed but only developed, like a musical theme, since the death of the last apostle — with the platforms of either major political party.” The Democratic Party’s liberalism on social issues clearly contradicts Catholic teaching, while “the libertarian economics championed by the Republican Party are absolutely at odds with a plain reading of the documents that together comprise the church’s social teaching.”

maybe thats what some of the framers wanted - but - human nature comes in- It is only logical for people who agree on certain items to work together.

Same thing with a singles club - which is meant for singles to come together for fun. - but eventually some will pair off.... just human nature.
And I did attend single clubs- in fact I could date any girl I pleased .....
problem was, I just didnt please any......

You’re correct that Washington famously warned against political parties in his Farewell Address, but what you failed to mention is that Americans just as quickly ignored his advice—including some of the Founders. Our government has a winner-take-all format and single district representation, so that’s the reason we evolved (or devolved) into a two-party system.

Yep, much to the hurt of the United States, as within the past 30 years the two major parties have both rejected being big tent parties, as they were for so long, and embraced the parliamentary-style ideological based parties.

They also have a good chunk of following from the Anabaptists (Amish/Mennonites) and also from several Reformed folks of the Postmillenial mindset.
