The other church is only 5 miles away. Is the issue simply one of building capacity that you would have two churches so close to each other? Or, is the idea to have two smaller churches where fellowship is deep in a small group?

BrotherMartin is located in SW England. So, the distance may be a matter of culture.

It is partly taking advantage of an opportunity presented; it would cost us £0000s to put an extension on our church, and here we are offered the use of one free.. But also, Budleigh is a town of around 7,000 people and we don't believe it has another Bible-believing chuch in it. We think it ought to have one.

Understood, but unless there is a mountain between the two cities, a person could easily bike from city to city. I can bike to 4 suburbs within 5 miles of my house.
One other point: East Devon is the retirement capital of Britain. When stockbrokers and investment bankers retire, they sell their hugely expensive homes in London and come and live down here; and they say of Budleigh Salterton where we are planting the chuch, that people go there to die, only when they get there the air is so pure that they find they can't do it!

Not too many people cycling five miles out of Budleigh. But old people need saving just as much as youngsters, and more urgently.

On Saturday, we have the Induction Service for our shiny new Assistant Pastor, Jon Hughes.
Please pray for him, his wife, Katie and their three children as they settle into life in Devon.

I am thrilled to hear of God's work in SW England. Thank you for sharing, brother.

I noticed that I haven't given an update on my church for around 18 months, so here goes.
We have continued to grow, albeit more slowly. Our numbers can vary because we have a number of immigrants from Africa - Uganda, Zimbabwe and Ghana - who have been invited in to work in our care homes. These dear people have to work quite often on Sundays and in the evenings. So, while we have had days when we have had 78 and 79 people attending, which is really beyond our building's capacity, other days we are between 50 and 60. Our plant in Budleigh attracts between 16 and 20, and is not yet viable, but we are seeing new people coming in.

More excitingly, it seems that there is a genuine movement of God among Bible-believing churches. While the MSM gleefully report that the Church of England, Methodists, URC (no relation to the denomination in the USA) and even the Baptist Union are closing dozens of churches and their congregations are collapsing, independent churches and conservative Baptist congregations are seeing real growth.

The people most open to the Gospel are young folk in late teens and twentys, especially males. They have been taught that masculinity is toxic, that they can change to being female if they want and that the world is about to collapse because of Climate Change. As a result they are confused, anxious and depressed and can be reached with the good news of the Gospel. Many adults are also depressed. House prices have risen to ridiculous levels so that there seems no chance of buying. Even renting seems out of reach, and many people in their 30s are still living with their parents. They are desperate for some good news. Please pray that the churches can reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for the update. Keep depending on the Lord. As hope you all can get help and possibly some funding to build some buildings. To host church groups. Praying for a miracle from God to help spread the Gospel of the Good News of Christ. All things are possible with God if you give it all to Him! Again appreciate the update Martin!
