Re 1:1, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of 1) the word of God, and of 2) the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear 3) the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ Is three things according to the text.
1)The word of God
2)The testimony of Jesus Christ
3) Prophecy
The Revelation is addressed to the 7 churches named, which at the time of the prophecy existed in Asia, a province of Asia Minor.
John the apostle was commanded to see and to write the prophecy of the Revelation and was commanded to write it in 3 divisions according to a time line. Here it is.
19 1) - past tense) Write the things which thou hast seen, and 2 - present tense) the things which are, and 3 - future tense) the things which shall be hereafter;
The things which "were," according to the text, when the command was given was after the vision of the glorified Christ in verses 12-19. Eight verses. John was to write that down. That was what was already past that he saw.
The things that “are” at the time of his writing are the seven churches in Asia. John received these instructions just before he saw the vision of Christ. Look!
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which “are” in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Following this line of logic and reasoning the things that are “hereafter” are those things that will be hereafter the Churches.
After this (testimony to the 7 churches) I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
This is the second trumpet sound in the context of the churches, and also the last.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
The first trumpet sound was at the beginning of the Revelation before the testimony to the churches.
Re 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
This is basically the same words that are said here when a voice sounded as a trumpet.
11 Thess 4:3 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
What is most important among many important truths in the Revelation is the fact that it is the testimony of Jesus Christ.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Deut 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Revelation 4:2 through Re 22:21 is the testimony of Jesus Christ about events after the rapture of the church to heaven.
2 Who bare record of 1) the word of God, and of 2) the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
