God exists (although being converted from violent atheist by a ‘road to Damascus’ encounter, I am unsure it still qualifies as a supposition).

So the second presupposition is that the Jesus that claimed me is the Jesus of the Bible.

God is good. In fact, he is the very definition of goodness.

I read once, or heard someone say?, the English word “God” comes from referring to the Deity revealed in scripture as “The Good”.

It would be interesting to know if that were true.

    peace to you

    Based on what?
    Existence is what exists.
    God meaning what to exist?

    It is not true.

It is just one of those stories that keeps circulating because almost no one fact checks anything that sounds good to them, and those that do fact check and make the correction get shunned.

The best I can find out, our English spelling "god" was in use in Middle English before 900 A.D.

I need more than a knee jerk quip. Of course He's deity, and of course He keeps His covenants. What's your point ?

Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Pretains to our Lord Jesus Christ becoming immortal in being the first born from the dead.

Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

    8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

In terms of theology and study my most basic presupposition is that the Bible, regardless of translation, is God's Word and His revelation to us.

In terms of faith, my most basic presupposition is God's fullest revelation of Himself to man is the Person of Jesus Christ.

In terms of my own life, my most basic presupposition is that I am aging older and not younger.
