I think it’s stupid. What are your thoughts about no income tax on tips?
Have you ever worked for tipsI think it’s stupid.
Income is income. We have progressive tax brackets. How you obtain the income is irrelevant.Have you ever worked for tips
My salary is a gift the company gives me if that's how you look at it.Tips are NOT income. They are gifts we give (for whatever reason) and like any present, should not have "tax" on them. Or called "wage" on W-2
Love countries where tipping is not a part of their lifestyle. Restaurants and others "service" employees are paid a decent, agreed-upon wage. I used to cruise back in the day when tipping was optional, but expected. Amounts varied. NOW? $xx for cruise + $yy mandatory tip. Then some rich morons give EXTRA tips and soon that will be the norm. Not from me.
I keep a dish of candy packets (commercially wrapped) by our door so when UPS or Amazon guy comes, I open door and trade a little sweet snack for the package. Same at the Kroger where they do all the shopping for me and bring it to my car. I always have a thank you note and mini-candy bar in the back of the SUV for them. A pick-me-up in the middle of the day they can enjoy even tho store says NO tipping.
You obviously are not a CalvinistMy salary is a gift the company gives me if that's how you look at it.
I would agree if wages could not be at a lower rate to account for tips.Tips are NOT income. They are gifts we give (for whatever reason) and like any present, should not have "tax" on them. Or called "wage" on W-2
