"Of My sheep" points to the Origin group from which My sheep are chosen.

The Greek preposition "ek" is sometimes used to indicate something is "out from" or arises from or comes from something.

The question asked on another thread was "are those who comprise the group 'of My sheep' the same as the group "My sheep?"

In John 10:26 Jesus say to unbelievers, "you are not of (ek) My sheep.

One view claimed the idea was the same as if Jesus had said, "you are not My sheep." Since His sheep are saved and have eternal life, obviously the unbelievers were not "My sheep." But what group were they not a part of? Who are those "of My sheep?

Since, obviously, you are not "out of," or "out from" My sheep is the wrong interpretation, as they had never been saved and therefore could not have originated from the My sheep group!

So what characteristic does some lost people have, that makes them "of My sheep" while still lost and headed for destruction?

Who are the people that comprise "the fields white for harvest? John 4:34-36 Some people claim the fields are never white for harvest as each and every lost person is unable to seek God or believe in Christ. But that is contrary to Christ's very words.

So let us set that assertion aside, and consider the facts presented in scripture. Lets assume for the moment John 10:26 had been translated this way, "you are not of the group from which My sheep come." (Or more succinctly, you are not from My sheep's origin group.)

In order to be "of My sheep" the person must be a member of "soil group 2 or 3 or 4" as described in Matthew 13. They cannot be part of soil group 1, because those have hardened hearts are indeed not able to hear the gospel.

What characteristic do those three remaining groups have? The were open to God's word, they listened and understood, at least to some extent, and chose to believe, at least in part. Thus they were unlike those of John 10:26, who had already closed their minds to things outside their previously held beliefs.

If this openness to the gospel is what makes some of the lost "of My sheep" then closed mindedness seems a method of hardening hearts to either salvation or growth toward Christian maturity.

May God bless

In John 10:26 Jesus say to unbelievers, "you are not of (ek) My sheep.

It wasn't just any ol' group of unbelievers, but the same bunch as these, the bunch that "bruised His heel":

John Chapter 8 - American Standard Version

37

I know that ye are Abraham`s seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you.

40

But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham.

41

Ye do the works of your father. They said unto him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

43

Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word.

44

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.

45

But because I say the truth, ye believe me not.

46

Which of you convicteth me of sin? If I say truth, why do ye not believe me?

47

He that is of God heareth the words of God: for this cause ye hear them not, because ye are not of God.

2nd Corinthians Chapter 4

4

in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.

Yes, you are not of Gold presents the same idea, those not open to God are not of God and therefore do not hear his voice, whereas those of God are open to God's word and hear is voice. Same idea in both passages.

In John 15, Jesus tells the group they do not believe BECAUSE they are not of His Sheep.

This OP would turn the words of Jesus around to make the passage say the opposite.

This OP would have the passage say they weren’t His sheep because they hadn’t yet believed.

Like so many other failed attempts to slay the doctrines of Grace, this poster must LITERALLY change the Words of our Lord Jesus to make His TRUTH mean the opposite.

That is the very definition of false doctrine.

Readers beware the false doctrines of this poster.

Peace to you

Yet another nonsense post, hurling absurdity to hide biblical truth.
1) Yes John 10:26 says the group does not believe BECAUSE they are not "of My sheep."
2) Thus the OP says exactly the same thing! The difference in interpretation is Calvinism false claims "of My sheep" refers to the same group as "My sheep" whereas "of My sheep" refers to the people from whom His sheep originate, those open to God's word.
3) The reason for non-belief is closed mindedness. So yet another misrepresentation to obfuscate discussion.
4) Simply an attempt to change the subject to invented false charges against me. Thus the behavior of false teachers.

Scripture:
...ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep...

Dyslexia of Vanology:
...ye are not of my sheep, because ye believe not...

Scripture:
He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Dyslexia of Vanology:
He that heareth God's words will become of God: ye therefore are not of God, because ye hear them not.

Yet another complete misrepresentation. Ever wonder why these Calvinist posters must resort to villification and falsehood to defend their false doctrine?

5) You are not "of My sheep" (the group that hears and responds to the gospel) because your minds are closed to God's word. Does everyone who is "of My sheep" have their faith credited as righteousness? Nope.

The reason for non-belief is closed mindedness.

I reiterate:

Scripture:
...ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep...

Dyslexia of Vanology:
...ye are not of my sheep, because ye believe not...

He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

So.. AGAIN… @Van changes the Words of our Lord Jesus to fit his beliefs.

Jesus gave the reason for their unbelief.. they were not of His sheep.

This OP literally changes the words of our Lord Jesus claiming the reason for unbelief is closed mindedness… a modern secular terminology.

Beware the false doctrines of this poster.

Peace to you

Yet another obviously false claim. I did not change God's message. The reason they did not believe was because they were not of My sheep.
They were not "of My sheep" because they were not open to God's word, they minds were closed by their faith in fiction.

Please show me from the passage where Jesus says the reason they were not “of My Sheep” because they were not open to God’s Word?

Jesus very clearly stated His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. They are His sheep before they hear His voice because He calls them by name.

Jesus does not call out randomly to all the sheep and those that follow become His sheep. Jesus calls His sheep BY NAME and every one of them follow Him when He calls.

You simply are so blinded by your hatred of the doctrines of Grace you are unable to comprehend very clearly teaching.

That is why your teaching is always false.

Peace to you

Why waste more effort, I have shown you in post after post, your mind is closed because of your traditions which you believe are true. I have asked this before: Who are the people who comprise the "fields white for harvest?" They are those who are "of My sheep" open to God's word, not having a hardened heart, like soil #1 of Matthew 13.

My mind is always open to scripture, not the vain false teaching of men.

You are in continuous error because your preconceived bias prevents you from understanding God’s Word in the context it was written.

You take a verse here or there, manipulate and change the very words of our Lord Jesus to fit your false doctrine and when you are called out for what anyone with an IQ above room temperature would recognize as false teaching, you double down, claim you’ve proved everything, claim others are teaching false doctrine… taint so….duh….. and on and on.

The only thing you are correct about is this is a waste of effort.

I’ll leave you to your (yet another) effort to prove the doctrines of grace are false.

Peace to yoh

Yet another you, you, you post addressing me and not the topic. This is the behavior of false teachers.

Did I say people were not "of My sheep" because they did not believe, or because they were not open to God's word, Read the OP and see who misrepresents what is said.

As far as Calvinism's doctrines, I have shown that the TULI of the TULIP are unbiblical many times.

Has anyone seen where any of the Calvinists have explained that the "fields white for harvest" are not people who are "of My sheep. Neither have I.

False doctrine, chosen then enabled to believe.
Biblical doctrine chosen through faith in the truth.
