Katargeo - a word often mistranslated

This very interesting New Testament word has not fared well at the hands of well-meaning translators. Admittedly, a single word certainly may have various shades of meaning. But the reader – and certainly the translator! – of a text should always first consider consistency of meaning before allowing personal viewpoint to subtly suggest ways to nuance the sacred text. And this is exactly what is going on here with “katargeo”; certain eschatological assumptions biasing the translator away from the original impact of these verses. Article linked here.

Interesting article.
But I fail to see how the different translations of the word affect the meaning of the reading. Your article didn’t change anything about the meaning of Scripture as I read it. Did I miss something or is this just another hit piece on translators?

"Another hit piece"? I don't do hit pieces. Translators have a hard task and I gave them due credit. Why the snarkiness?
