Boycott Finland

Maybe Christians should boycott Finland? Freedom of speech includes speech with which you disagree. People say much that I do not agree with, but I do not seek to silence or punish them. It's adult thing.

Finland’s Top Court Hears ‘Hate Speech’ Case Involving Christian Doctor, Politician Who Spoke Against Pride Celebration less

I am curious why you would suggest a boycott of Finland because of what their justice system is doing?

If you read the article you would see that she received unanimous acquittals from the Helsinki District Court in 2022 and from the Court of Appeals in 2023.

It is only the Finnish prosecutors that have continued pursuing the case and that would fall to the chief prosecutor wanting to carry the case forward.

That is the point. They are determined to convict her. Indeed, during a visit you might get into a similar situation. The Judicial System needs to reign in their prosecutors. We have the same problem here. Judges and Lawyers are out of control no matter what the SCOTUS says they just try to find another way around their rulings.

Then your argument is with the out of control justice system not the general public.

And even then it would be with the ones with the power/position to make those choices to carry the case forward.

So again I ask why boycott Finland?

The system does not change unless the people get involved and people often do not get involved until it disrupts their stability or income. If the populace finds out their tourism is hurting because of actions like this there will arise a grass roots movement to stop what is hurting them. Much like the MAGA movement here in the States. People finally had enough of many things and gravitated towards that candidate that promised to change things and did keep promises in his first term. I am a Republican, but I do not think of myself as MAGA. If both parties would have nipped many of the issues in the bud, we would not need the drastic actions we are not seeing. It may take a "Trump" style leader in most countries to make things better for Christians and others. Let it start with Finland.

Americans make up less than 10% of foreign visits to Finland, and I would doubt that Finland is a big attraction for right-wing evangelicals, which would be the group interested in participating in a boycott.

While Finland has many churches it is in actual fact quite secular and "progressive" in it's views. Just as we see a rise in secular attitudes in the US and Canada.

This is to be expected as we see this in scripture. As we draw nearer to the time of Christ's return we will see man turn away more and more.

I have not visited Finland and do not plan to visit. I am uncertain about other ways to participate in a boycott besides continuing to stay in my home country, which I already intended to do.
