I was 13 at the time. I remember hearing about it. I wish NFL games would be shorter than they have become. Sometimes I feel like an NFL game is really a show filled with commercials with some football shown in between the commercials.

The story stated that at the time - an AFL game normally took about 90 minutes. But in this game there were several injuries.

In current times, If I am not mistaken - some time outs are determined by the network to increase commercials.

In the late 1960s, few professional football games took longer than two and a half hours to play, and the three-hour time slot allotted to the Jets and Raiders was thought to be adequate. A high-scoring contest, together with a number of injuries and penalties for the two bitter AFL rivals, caused the game to run longer than usual.

60 + 60 + 30 = 150 minutes / 60 minutes in an hour equals 2.5 hours.

I have no ideal what I was thinking about in post # 3 - unless I am still recovng from teh 2,000 miles I drove this past week!

The cut away from the game came while a play was in progress. However, we got to watch nearly 5 minutes of commercials before "Heidi" actually appeared on the screen. By then the game was long over.
