I see where a construction project for our shipyards was recently announced.

The potential problem with all very expensive military hardware (like the B-2 bomber) is we should avoid putting too many eggs in one basket.

It might be that low earth orbit hypersonic weapons might destroy most surface ships.

Battleships have been obsolete since the Japanese bombed the British battleships in WW2. They only work against third world nations. China, Russia can sink everything. Iran can sink one. Certainly North Korea. Maybe not Central/South America. Someone is going to make money off of it. Taxpayers will pay for the outdated weapon. But whenever is that a concern. Profits are the main reason. Expensive weapon systems that are not worth their money.
