Are many here going to SBC churches then?

I was a member of a Southern Baptist Church, where I met my wife, but I am not attending it now. I am currently unable to attend any church, but the last one I went to was an independent Bible church.

Our church is affiliated with the SBC
We are independent in that the SBC does not control our local decisions.
If it came to the point that we had to do "xyz" and we did not want to -
then either the SBC would withdraw fellowship or they would turn the other cheek!

(FWIW - I use a small "i" for independent!

So, Jerome - what do the think that the SBC makes us do?

Lets see - if the President of the SBC declared himself the Anti-Christ - we might consider leaving....
Other than that - we will cross that bridge when we get to it!

As far as "Turning the other cheek"
that would be the SBC! not our local church!

For example - if our church chose to repeat the Lords prayer Every Sunday morning after the offering -
and the SBC said we can not do that - then either they would have to withdraw fellowship or just put up with it!

You would know this more than I Salty… are there any SBC churches located in Northwest New Jersey. I live in Hackettstown community Northwest New Jersey and it just doesn’t seem to be any SBC churches, at least that I’m aware of. I’ve been on the hunt for good practicing churches but have not found any. The only one that I’ve had an interest in has lost their pastor and is losing a lot of their congregation. I have asked them on several occasions to call me but I assume that the elders that are remaining are either not prepared to have a conversation or at this point maybe they just don’t give a darn. I can reveal the church to you if you want to but I won’t do it here it would have to be in a private conversation thank you for your help.

Currently in an ibf (not IBF) church. The church situation here in Central VA is strange, with the advent of the SBCV and Liberty University. I have attended SBCV churches that are more like IBF than the independent churches! There is a lot of mixed fellowship between the SBCV and the ibf churches here, as LU seems to be much more of the identifying connecting point.

I was a member of a SBCV church for a few years, and it was fairly independent. They designated funds to go only to the mission boards, and really didn't care much about what the national convention did or said.
