You aren’t forced to renegotiate. You can pay the same tariffs we do. It’s fair.
Why would we want to pay the tariffs that you do?

The US wants higher tariffs which is actually just a higher tax on your own people.

Kind of like your retaliatory claim is also rich. You can do it to us but when we do it to you, we are the bad guys.
When have I said retaliatory tariffs were a good thing? I think tariffs are really dumb. That is why under CUSMA most of the products that crossed the border were tariff free.

Remember it is Trum* that keeps throwing around the tariff idea, 50% here 100% there. That man does not seem to rational to me.

Have you ever checked the tariffs that were imposed on us?
Maybe if the world approached the US as trading partners, they would not be so dependent and desperate right now.
You are just living with the consequences of yesterday’s negotiations. It is inevitable that your cash cow think of itself before it becomes a meat cow instead of a milk cow.
Maybe if Trum* was not so irrational then the US could be considered a trading partner. But he is unstable and thus your whole admin. is seen that way.

This is why everyone changed their tariffs and renegotiated trade? Because they are not affected by us?

You have a weird sense of “need.”
You really should read what I said Ben.

The world does not need the US to survive but the US needs the world to survive. Get use to it.

Without the inputs from the world the US cannot survive. The whole world is interconnected like it or not.

The reality is that Canada is in a much better position than the US but even we would not survive without the inputs from other nations.

The world will trade with the US as a trading partner not as a vassal subject.

You are the one who is potentially going to lose their salvation over this. I’m just exhorting you to good works.
But you don’t actually believe that you can lose your salvation over this. That is why you continue on this and even go further.
It just shows the hypocrisy of the standard of your beliefs.

Would you would feel better if I just said he is irrational, or that he has let his ego control his thinking. Either way what he is doing is foolish.

Perhaps you should exhort your great leader to show more respect to other leaders.

SH, I consider you first and foremost a Brother in Christ.

Then somewhere along the way the Americans and Canadians come in and muddy the waters.

What will Carney do when you stop his life support?
Elect someone else.
I thought MAGA was Make Alberta Great Again.
Na Alberta is already great
But never mind. You enjoy having others feed off the labor of your own province while they do nothing. Continue paying child support to the government for those who are not your children. Oh, yeah, you have to like it too, or you are just a bully.
The money drain out of Alberta was not negotiated it was imposed by the federal gov.

That is the difference Ben the US negotiates a deal then complains that they do not like the deal.
Then you have Trum* just impose extra tariffs for some made up slight.

We are brothers in Christ.

It pains me to see so many people defend his tariffs as a good thing when they are the ones that will end up paying for them. Tariffs do not help anyone, that is why CUSMA was so good for all three countries.

I can see why you defend Trum* but we see him as irrational and ego driven.

It takes years to build trusted relations and just moments to destroy them.

Oh, but that stick can strike anywhere in the world without anyone beforehand knowing.
But not with much effect anymore.

The US is not needed as much as the US thinks it is. Will we trade with the US, sure. Is the US the only game in town, NO it is not.

The sooner the US comes to understand that the better it will be for the US.

We will see, Trump first had to overcome America being driven into the ground by Biden.

Now it seems after a year he has neutralized that, and made some big changes that will defiantly effect the economy in one way or another for America.

Let's just wait and see what that effect is. I know you're not American and that is not your first priority, but it is to us.

Yes we have to wait and see.

Economics 101 says that tariffs are just a hidden tax on your own people.

He has collected billions in tariffs which will have to be covered by someone whether the importer or those that buy the importers products.

Guess who the importer thinks should cover the cost?

I think you and the econimists that claim so are wrong on the scale of proportion. Time will tell.

Trump is bringing in corporations building and operating here on a scale never seen before.

$Trillions of new investment in America is going to put the economy on a role.

Economists have already said it's coming.

@Silverhair. I was just watching the DW news program and they were talking about Germany and China trade negotiations. China has replaced the US as number 1 trading partner with Germany. But it's not just a matter of buying something from China that was coming from the US. What they are doing is replacing their own domestic manufacturing with Chinese products. We don't make anything anymore. Germany did anything to protect it's own auto industry and China is now destroying it with cheap electric cars. So Germany, if they want to "fix" us by giving their auto industry to China - more power to them. They are not hurting us as we quit making anything years ago.

The problem is, China has capacity now to supply every good needed by everyone in the world cheaper than any domestic company can - and they are catching up on sophisticated goods too. You want a British Lotus sports car? OK, but it's made in China now! They are on the way up and we (Europe and Canada and USA) are on the way down. And China is losing market share of cheap common goods to Malaysia, Thailand and so on. If African countries ever get it together look out. We can't make anything anymore and be competitive.

I agree we have shot ourselves in the foot by killing our ability to manufacture anything here.

I watched a video earlier if I can find it I will put a link on here. It lays out the problem quite well.

It also points to something that we as Christians should find of interest.

As you have said, time will tell.

When Trump was raising the tariffs to get a level playing field, at the same time he was giving nations zero tariffs if they built and operated here in America. He was counterbalancing the weight of the tariffs.

I seen the list of global corporations including many that had built in Mexico taking advantage of it and coming back, it's unbelievable.

The man is not a fool, I think before his next 3 years expire he will be proven to be a financial genius. But let's wait and see.
