Poll: Should Military Retirement Pay Be EXEMPT from Taxes?

No - it is income. FICA would be another story.
in fact a retired person is still subject to recall!
My 80% SC is not taxable. Military pay could be the same. I wish they would recall me. I miss the military considering I was still a hippie when I first enlisted.

Yea...but what would we do if recalled? I can't march...bad knees. Can't lift...bad back. Can't sit for too long (back hurts).

BUT....I complain about my situation...so I guess I could do 90% of what we did back then. :Biggrin

I agree that SC should be tax exempt. But not regular military pay. --- In a way, I would love to be recalled ,but as a supply man, I am on a couple of Quart master FB pages. And the things they talk about - it would take me at least 6 months to re-learn AR 725-50. 710-10 & ect.

Are you saying we can't be retrained? It is only for retirement pay, not AD. If SC can be tax exempt then so can the retired pay.

Sure we can be retrained - but first, I would have to be "un-trained" then it would only take 6 months to train me on the new SOP

Sure, retired pay CAN be exempt BUT it is not. So why should retired pay be tax exempt? Now are you talking just about DoD retired pay or all pay from a private business as well?
