“In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing.”

- Richard Evans, “In the Year 2525”

Apparently, Richard Evans put his song’s timeline too far into the future.

"Marsh said a 2020 company study of regional electricity use found that the amount of electricity sold will triple or quadruple by 2050. That amount cannot be served by natural gas and solar."

My point I was trying to make in the OP is not really about types of electricity generation; it was about this AI and data center proliferation mess.
A reactor at Three Mile Island is scheduled to start up (I think reactor 1....2 is permanently closed). It is to be used for Microsoft data centers.

I am not sure, but the mini-reactors may be a solution for much of AI and data center power demands.
