You are exceedingly harsh. I do not like too see any alleged Christian point at a group of other alleged Christians and brand them tools of the adversary. This attitude is like the Pharisees.

You and I probably agree on how distasteful and alarming certain ideas and practices are. We may be in dismay watching people follow and give money to certain preachers and ministries. But we will be judged according to the measure we imposed on others.

I prefer to ignore or label these ministries as being not what I would support or approve of.

Alleged Christians condemning other alleged Christians to hell looks really bad to outsiders.

I am Word of Faith... To a certain degree... Speaking words of faith is a good thing. And how many times did the Lord say... Oh ye of little faith? And at one time he said... How is it ye have no faith?

To me, this depends on what you mean by "word of faith." If it is like some of the leading Charismatics who believe that non-biblical words themselves have intrinsic power, I disagree. In Japan, where I was a missionary for many years, there is a non-Christian teaching like that called kotodama (言霊, literally "word spirit"), so to me it is a heathen doctrine.

But when it comes to self promotion, book sales, mansions, private jets, great riches, and the focus on materialism it becomes very clear that such people have crossed the cautions of the New Testament into something else.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit is something that happens inside the human heart...

I am a trichotomist, so I would say that the filling of the Holy Spirit happens in our spirit, with which we communicate with God, and it is made perfect at salvation so that the Holy Spirit can enter there. Not the heart, which is "deceitful above all things and desperately wicked" (Jer. 17:9).

38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

The Spirit is not mentioned in this passage.

I would not want to make a career out of ministry these days without a sensation that God was with me. Faith is also considered a gift of the Spirit.

It is my experience that everyone gets a gift from the Holy Ghost in their own unique way.

I tell our people that we are a body "Fitly joined together" (Eph 4:16 - KJV) like a precision well-oiled machine with each part specifically made for a specific purpose. We are not "Interchangeable parts" like a water pump or distributor cap on a small-block Chevy! We can look at and study all of the spiritual gifts in 1 Cor 12 and Rom 12 but I do not believe this is exhaustive of all the gifts, more like general categories but what God gives you is more unique and specifically for you and for the benefit of the body and to whatever he is calling you to.

Ephesians 4:8-11 is often lumped in with the passages in Romans and 1 Corinthians but I would stress that "apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers" are actual people holding specific offices in the church. These are "gifts to the church," not "gifts of the Spirit" but I do believe the gifts of the Spirit play a vital role in the developing and equipping of those who ultimately become a "gift to the church." We can then bring this around full circle asking "What is the role of these gifts to the Church?" The answer of course is found in the following verses (Eph 4:12-14) and can be summarized as those who aid in spiritual growth and help us discover and cultivate our own spiritual gifts!

In the last two or three months of '89 I was brought to my knees by the Ruah/Holy Spirit every time Dolly Parton sang He's Alive on CMT. I had known there was God since November 3, 1966 but had just had His revelation from reading the Book of John, three times.

As I sang the New Year, 1990, in for the drunks, the Ruah came over me and I left without doing the last two sets and without my paycheck. Ruah has not left me from that point forward and I was not buried in the water for three more weeks.

Is my experience typical? I'm not sure at all but this is the recounting of my beginning of the journey to Just Living.

For sixteen years Smith Wigglesworth preached that he had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, when in fact he had only received the anointing of the spirit. He explains that it was though he was on the outside of the Garden of Eden looking in. But after he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, it was as though he had regained access to the Garden of Eden, with the Holy Spirit serving as the fiery sword keeping evil out while he tasted of the good of the Lord.

Smith Wigglesworth reminds his audience that since he left their presence, they do not know what he has done. He may have lost anointing or favor with God. He might be like people who have lived holy lives, preached sanctification, and their initial tongues were helpful; but they are now in a backslidden condition… A life not worthy of the language… Something got in the way. They have kept their language, but have lost their zeal and fire. Wherefore Smith Wigglesworth re-emphasizes…

1. Go two days without growing… You have lost your vision!
2. Go a week without growing… You are a backslider!

Smith Wigglesworth encourages people to grow daily into the kingdom. He said that he would rather hear Christians who knew not the power of God, but were growing; than hear people who received the fullness of the power of God, and were now self-satisfied. Smith Wigglesworth also reemphasizes that, like the apostles, he did very little for the kingdom of God before he got the Holy Ghost. Smith Wigglesworth also emphasizes that the Giver is to be received before the gifts. Salvation always precedes sanctification, and sanctification will always precede the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Sanctification prepares the body for the Holy Spirit, and when the body is rightly prepared for the Holy Spirit, and then it is the work of Jesus to baptize with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit then makes Jesus king in your life; you regard him as Lord and Master over all things, and you become submissive to him in all things. You are not afraid to say, “You are mine! I love you!”

The difference between those being led by the Holy Spirit and those who are deceived by Satan is joy, gladness, and a good countenance instead of sadness, sorrow, and depression. Jesus comes with joy into the soul and lifts you higher and higher, it is the spirit who gives light. When satanic power begins to rule; then there is weariness, then people’s faces are like a tragedy, and then their eyes glare as though they have passed through a terrible trial. You are always right to test the spirits (1 John 4:1), if not you will be sure to be caught napping.

Have you ever noticed that the charismatic tongues speaking all sounds the same, like a variation of Aramaic? Some of it is outright gibberish or nonsense syllables. This stuff cannot be biblical speaking in tongues. I myself spoke in tongues like that for decades, but I no longer do it.

The baptism or anointing of the Holy Spirit occurs when a person gets saved, born again. It is not a second blessing.

I do not recommenced anyone get taught the Holy Spirit, tongues, gifts, miracles, prosperity, or anything like that. Whatever your gift it is from the Grace of God and ought to produce fruit and edification in the house of God. If someone has taught you to speak in tongues it is indeed outright gibberish and nonsense syllables. It is like trying to play the piano when it is obvious the ability is not there.

The baptism or anointing of the Holy Spirit occurs when a person gets saved, born again??? Then why do are not all Christians producing spiritual fruit? If someone is anointed in the gift of piano playing is it not thanking God for them the proper thing to do? Does that mean all Christians should be in church playing the piano? It is a grave mistake to teach all people get the same gifts when Baptized in the Holy Ghost. Even on the day of Pentecost the tongues were different out of each believer.

8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

If the Lord has given you a gift focus on that gift and do not be desirous of other peoples gifts. In this day and time it is a great comparison. Even if someone is blessed with more materially a jealousy is easily developed and causes people to lose focus on what they do have.

I do not recommend anyone speak in tongues. It has nothing to do with being filled with the Holy Spirit. But I do recommend being desirous of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, in which may include tongues. But it is no value for all to come together speaking in another language. It is of value for everyone to be filled with the Holy Spirit and make good use of whatever gifts that may include.

The Apostle John says... "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." - Revelation 1:10 as if to say that was not a blessing that occurred every day in his life. It is my opinion people need to be honest of their relationship with God. For people to say they are of God when they are actually in the flesh is simply put being a hypocrite. When we are not in the Spirit we need to be honest and admit the need of a little prayer and time with God.
