I wonder what Adam thought, "dying thou dost die," even meant?
Well Adam was no simpleton. :) He was given charge by God to name multitudes of animals. But he wouldn't have known much about spiritual or physical death. He also did not stop Eve taking of the fruit of the tree.

The question was "Do animals sin?" Answer NO but they still die.

Secondary question, did Adam and Eve sin? If so then what was the consequence?

What does the bible tell?

Scripture is communication from God. It must be interpreted in light of its historical context, its literary context, and its cultural context.

Science is a method that must be repeatable with built in assumptions. Another name for that method is the experimental method. The data is analyzed using statistics. Researchers may disagree on which statistical tools may be used. There are several mathematical systems.

Scripture and science agree about as much as speech and math do.

There are those who make the claim a day is always 24 hours. Someone would have to read very far in Genesis to dispute that. "God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” There was an evening, and there was a morning: one day. -- Genesis 1:5 (CSB)"

Christians should know their Bible not what someone who repeats what they read or heard, who repeats what they read or heard, who repeats what they read or heard, and who repeats what they read or heard. It amazes me how long some "cans" have been kicked down the road.
Define "the word of God" from Genesis 15:1 will get you far and far from disputes that lack credibility. It amazes me how many "experts" there are who are not Christians who cannot tell people how to interpret an English narrative and they are experts at interpreting Hebrews narratives. They don't have a clue about the structure of a Hebrew narrative and they definitely do not understand communication. There are so many experts on science and they cannot give a basic definition of science.
