Nation vs International Laws

You are trying to justify an illegal act.
How do the people of Venezuela feel about it?
Don't know. Do you know for sure or are you just going to speculate?
Is that not what you are doing?

I guess it is illegal to do anything about some ruthless dictator who is committing attrocities against their own people right?

Or perhaps it is because they took down one of the radical left's Marxist "Comrades?"

No I’m not being silly. You hate President Trump so much that you cozy up to an actual murderer. That is beyond silly. And international law is a joke. There are treaties between nations and throughout history they can be broken. If you break an international law, who’s coming to get you? The king of the earth?
Maduro was taken down by men. He was taken down by his equals. Leaders of nations remove leaders of nations. It does happen. But the silly part is really that you hate Trump so much that you defend the murderer. I don’t like your kind of law and order that protects the guilty. I do think that you should credit God with the removal of an overstayed dictator. So I have a challenge for you. Read Daniel 4 today and then turn to God and tell God He made a mistake by letting Maduro be removed. Maduro had opportunity to change his ways. He chose not to. But you would be mistaken to think that God has not spared the people of Venezuela.
You think God is a hands off God? You don’t know Him. If you knew Him better you would not call it silly.

What makes you think I hate POTUS Trump. I think he has been a very disruptive leaded that has made the US an unreliable trading partner.

You continue to support an illegal action. The reason international laws work is because nations choose to adhere to them. Rogue nations choose to ignore them. Th US can now be counted as a rogue nation along with Russia, China, North Korea. Real food company Trum* has chosen to keep.

I have to ask are you now comparing President Trump to God?

Why are you using an asterisk for the last letter of Trump's surname?

You are delusional to compare the U.S. to Russia and Ukraine.

DT didn’t send 500,000 soldiers into the country, bomb hospitals, infrastructure, take the land.

Very sad

Peace to you

An illegal action does not depend upon the size of the invading force as you are trying to suggest.

What is sad is that you cannot see the reality that what POTUS Trump did was wrong.

I do not know how the people of Venezuela feel about it and neither do you it would seem.

I have not made any comments about the people of Venezuela, you are the one that did that.

So by your logic then the people in the US should use illegal means to deal with the current leaders that they do not like.

Remember there are large numbers of people in the US that think what the US government is doing through ICE is an atrocity.

Perhaps the radical left did like Maduro. But since I am neither radical or on the left I did not agree with his actions just as I do not agree with POTUS Trump's actions.

But it does seem that you and a few others on here are actually much more radical than I am, you all support the illegal actions of the US.

You may not like the international laws but they are there for a reason.

Do you support President Trump's war with Iran?

@Armchair Apologist you mentioned ruthless dictators who are committing atrocities against their own people.

Well since we see the same thing happening in Russia, China & North Korea when should we expect President Trump to send in the invading force to take out those leaders?

First of all - WHY do you consistently misspell the name of the POTUS?

He is your POTUS not mine.

To quote your POTUS at the UNGA

"I have a big decision to make. Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild, or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly?" He then added, "Anything could happen with me."

When you're standing at a podium with access to nuclear weapons are we to consider this a rational comment? 71% of American voters disapprove of his foreign policy. 76% say the Iran war has not justified its cost. And here is what that cost looks like in practice.
While the American president was speculating about annihilation, the rest of the world was making serious decisions. And every single one of those
decisions points again in the same direction away from the United States.

Well you are right there is a difference between legal and moral. And the US was wrong on both counts.
It depends on how you view what is moral.

Some believe it would have been immoral to sit by and allow Maduro to continue torturing and executing Venezuelan citizens, to continue profiting from the nations resources while the people suffered, and to continue terroristic activities towards the US.

It goes back to the Hitler question. Was it moral to try and remove Hitler from power?

Your answer is "no", other nations acted immorality removing Hitler.

But others view it a moral requirement for stronger countries to act.

I personally see the morality in the removal of the terrorist. He had violated international law by slaughtering his own people.

BUT I do not believe that is why the US acted (just as nations did not enter WW2 because Hitler was a mass murderer).

@JonC it does not go back to the Hitler question it stays with the question of whether the US should have invaded a sovereign country and kidnapped the leader.

Maduro had not invaded another country but Putin has so why does the US not invade it and remove Putin?

Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping have both oppressed their country men but I do not see the US invading those countries.

I know you want to defend what the US did but as I said before we have international laws for a reason. But it is obvious that the US does not see why they should adhere to them unless it is to their perceived benefit.

I never said he was your POTUS!

and keep in mind two things"
1) Just because I am a TrumP supporter - does not mean I agree with him 100%
2) Are you expecting the Executive of a Country to be perfect?

I am surprised that ... Jon can dismiss an illegal action so easily.
I never dismissed the Trump Administration violating UN law.

What I said was it does not matter because nothing at all will or can be done as a penalty for violating UN law. Absolutely nothing.

Unenforceable laws are of little consequence.

The question is whether the lives of Venezuelan, removing an oppressor, and capturing a terrorist who was actively committing crimes against US citizens justified violating an unenforceable law.

1] did not think anyone did

2] No. None are but I do expect them to be rational.

This may shock you but I do not agree with all that Carney is doing but at least he does act in a rational way.

All you have too do is listen to Trump's UNGA speech to see how irrational he has become.

No it did not justify invading another country and kidnapping that leader.

The international laws are their to put up guard rails. From what you are trying defend you must think that it is permissible to ignore any law that does not suit a nation.

As I said before he has made the US no better that any other rogue nation.
