Zionism Undermines our Gospel

But Israel was not a nation when the Temple was destroyed.

Israel gave that land for peace because Israel owned the land. Since Muslims also viewed it as sacred they did not remove it. It is a holy site for Jews, but not significant to Judiasm.

Israel controls the Temple Mound. It is their property.
Tell that to the Jews at the wailing wall.

Haredim Jews are a minority.

There are more Muslim Israelis than Haredim Jews.

Following the 1967 war Israel returned day-to-day administrative and religious control of the compound to the Islamic Waqf as a gesture of peace and to avoid wider religious conflict.

Israel could erase all Muslim sites within its nation. Arab nations did. But Israel doesn't.

Of course, since Muslims represent a significant Israeli population, the site is important for Muslim worship, is not important for Jewish worship (Judiasm), it would not be a beneficial move.

That said, how many Arab nations allow a significant Jewish citizenship, allow Jews to be members of the governing body, and keep Jewish citizens safe?

Answer - none. Arab nations expelled Jews, forcing them tp go to Israel when Israel became a nation. This was primarily through State-sanctioned pressure and the increase of legal discrimination.

You liberals are all the same. You divorce yourselves from history and create false narratives, pretending they are true.

John, Iran has the Largest Jewish community outside of Israel. The Jews who were the go between originally the Onslow Accords were from Tunisa. That is just 2 off of the top of my head.

The US has the largest Jewish community outside of Israel. After that it is France, followed by Canada, the UK, Argentina and then Russia.

Of the Arab nations, Morocco has the highest Jewish population.

Iran is not an Arab nation.

Arabs comprise 2% to 4% of the Iranian population. Jews make up .01% to .02% of the Iranian population.

But yes, there are Jews in Iran. There are approximately 9000 Jews in Iran (JNS,2025 stat).

It is fair to ask why, given they face systemic racism and are 2nd class citizens. Iran is their country. The people are related. Most Iranians (70% to 90%) are opposed to their government and Jews and Persians in Iran are both persecuted under the regime. The majority are "nominal" Muslims (like the majority of the US are "nominal" Christians).

Israel has more a kinship with Iran than any other nation. The people are related. Prior to 1979 Israel and Iran maintained close economic and military ties. They shared intelligence.

In fact, Iran was among the first Muslim majority nation to recognize Israel as a sovereign nation.

What happened with the Onslow[sic[ Accords?

Baruch Goldstein, an American-Israeli doctor entered a mosque and killed 29 people. This was not Isreal but an extremist, a terrorist. What was the response? The Palestinian government started killing Israeli civilians.

Look John, I am not trying to pull your chain. I am not obfuscating. I am just trying to get you to see that you over-rely on certain sources: news sites, books, etc. to the detriment of the Bible. This is really apparent with regard to the Samaritan Parable, insisting "it is a mistake to make theology from a parable. They are like sermon illustrations, there to illuminate the truth, not communicate it."
I've actually held back from making this about theology, because I'm sure you will go with replacement theology, which I completely oppose. Didn't feel like the struggle, and didn't want to change the thread. But I can do theology about Israel all the day long: "God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying" (Rom. 11:2). And I could defend all I wrote previously, easily.
And I alluded to just one of several commentators that actually made the very "mistake" that you chided me for. To say that our Lord (the Word, the Way, the Truth, and the Life!), in that Parable, was Illuminating one truth, not communicating it - well, that is a tremendously fine distinction you make there. If your books really taught you that they did you a disservice.
Actually, you only referred to Alford Barnes one time in post #49. Period. And you didn't even quote from him. And he is way out of date. You referred to one commentary only, and didn't quote it.
I "ignored" your other sources because I wanted to focus on the Bible. I also have had and studied many books. Six or seven bookshelves back when I lived in Texas. But over the years I have learned which ones to keep and which ones to leave behind. (Actually, since I have been traveling for the last ten years or so they are almost all on my phone or laptop, but that is beside the point).
Nothing in the Bible proves your point, which is modern and political, not ancient and theological.
Also, I don't care what the Democrats or Republicans say on this issue. Most of them in both parties are reprehensible. I am generally Libertarian and yet some of them are sub-par as well.
You missed the point, which was not that they were Democrats, but that they had to revise their views and stop using the term "genocide" when it was defined to them. You ought to do the same.

I think it's important to note that the Ottoman Empire controlled all that land from 1517 until its defeat in 1917. During that time, no nations existed there. Following the defeat, Britain governed the territory under a League of Nations mandate until 1948. No independent sovereign nations were recognized during that mandate and the area was called Mandatory Palestine.

France assumed control of the northern Levant, referred to as the French Mandate from 1920-1946. There were no independent sovereign nations there either.

Here is the timeline of sovereign nations being formed in the area:

  • 1943 – Lebanon: Lebanon was the first of the group to achieve sovereign recognition. During World War II, the local government unilaterally abolished the French Mandate. After intense international and local pressure, France officially recognized Lebanese sovereignty on November 22, 1943, though French troops did not fully withdraw until 1946.
  • 1946 – Jordan: Britain officially ended its mandate over Transjordan via the Treaty of London. The country declared full sovereignty and independence as the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan on May 25, 1946 (later renamed Jordan in 1949).
  • 1946 – Syria: Following widespread protests, strikes, and British diplomatic pressure on France during World War II, French troops finally evacuated the country. Syria achieved undisputed sovereignty on April 17, 1946 (celebrated today as Evacuation Day).
  • 1948 – Israel: Following the United Nations partition recommendation in 1947, Great Britain officially terminated its mandate west of the Jordan River. The State of Israel declared its national sovereignty on May 14, 1948, which was immediately followed by the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
I found all this information by researching it. Bible prophecies reveal severe trials for Israel are coming.

To everyone: Just a small correction: It's the "Oslo Accords," not the "Onslow Accords." ("Onslow" was a character from the very funny British comedy show, "Keeping Up Appearances.") The Oslo Accord was with the PLA, not Hamas, which was a different entity. The current Palestinian Authority is not at all the same PA of those days, since the Palestinian citizens voted in the Hamas terrorist group as their government.

That is what Israel is doing. Destroying the Palestinians and taking their land from them. George H Bush made Israel sign the Onslow Accords. But Netananyahu and his ilk refused to give any Palestinian any land. It has been a genocide since day one. Give the Palestinians their West Bank and Gaza. What, you can't? Israeli settlers now have too many settelments in the West bank and gas has been discovered off the coast of Gaza. Israel will have to exterminate every single last Palestinians from the land. God sees what is going on.

To Conan: Please define how you mean "genocide." It doesn't match the usual dictionary definition.

Correction: the 1993 Oslo Accords were between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO, not PLA; mea culpa) and its leader Yassar Arafat. Arafat and the PLO were terrorists, ostensibly abandoned terrorism at that point. Anyway, the Oslo Accords treaty has little to do with the situation in 2026, IMO. Hamas is far more virulent that the PLO (as nasty as that was), as witness their vicious, inhuman, Satanic inspired and led Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel, the worst terrorist attack on Israel since the Holocaust.

I find it incredible that any born again believer would call the Israeli response to that Hamas invasion some kind of genocide. That shows a huge ignorance of war, dictionary definitions, and other matters, IMO. It is a surrender to antisemitism. Never mind the dispensationalist anti-dispensationalist arguments. Hamas is pure evil, and all good thinking Christians of whatever theology must stand against it.
